Avatar (2009 Film)

In an effort to stimulate conversation: Anyone see Avatar yet? If so, thoughts?

My personal opinion, as copied straight from my Rotten Tomatoes review: Cameron creates a vibrant world that is spectacular to behold. The characters and story, however, are rather archetypal.

Avatar is hit or miss, really. And "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" was boring.

"Did You Hear About the Morgans?" is hugh grant! seen one of his movies, seen all of it... Though I did like About A Boy...

i just got home. (i left with my brother at 9 pm) i went to see the 10:30 screening of Avatar. I personally loved it, though you could always point out the flaws in the movie. I really loved it. :) personally... 9/10 is my rating

i got home at 3:40 am O.o;; cuz we saw it with my brothers friends and then went to their house :x

My friend told me to watch it!! She said it was good. But I'm not gonna keep my hopes up cos I might get disappointed. But I plan on watching it.. if I can find someone to watch it with me hahaha

I gave it a 9/10 too because the visuals were spectacular. For plot commentary... click on spoiler button. It's really hard to commentate without ruining the plot for those who haven't seen it. People are not exaggerating when they say the visuals are amazing.

lol at the end of the movie we had so much popcorn left because we were to into the movie to even pick up 1 piece xDD

I just saw the movie. I loved the storyline, and personally I don't think the graphics we're all that they we're hyped up to be. I watched it in 3d and it would have been just as good in 2d. I wished they would have used more of the 3d in the movie. Also for you sc players, doesn't the humans reminds you a lot of the terran?xD They had marines banshees thors and firebreathers.

We must not have seen the same movie. It was a suburb technical feat. I bet their render farm could have kept a small state warm for the winter. The 3-D aspects were amazing, too. The glass effects were so real...I almost wanted to reach out at times. Too much 3-D could have been distracting, though. It's a tough line to walk. There were only a few "ZOMG, WE'RE USING 3D!!" moments, which is a good thing. Those tend to take you out of the movie. The usage really got me into the world in this case.

I recall Spielberg calling it "revolutionary", and after seeing the movie, yes it is revolutionary in terms of graphics and the whole concept of fantasy. But the storyline... Eh. Cheesy.

I don't know that I would call the story cheesy. It's certainly nothing groundbreaking, but really...what is? Humanity has been recycling certain mythic tropes since the dawn of storytelling.

Eh, I just expected more I guess. Though, it could just be my horrible eye sight that wasn't able to see the details. I sat all the way at the back and I couldn't read the subtitles.

the graphics were so good me and the other 6 people i saw it with forgot we were even holding popcorn and we were so into the movie we would take a piece of popcorn and just keep it in front of our mouths because we were to into the movie xD

The last quarter of the movie was balls-to-the-wall action and you say there isn't enough? Wha? I really think I was watching an entirely different movie that some of you.

I don't really think I'll like Avatar that much, probably because the commercials.... MCDONALDS AND BURGER KING AND LG PHONES AND BLAHBLAHBLAH all I could hear on TV for a while was Avaattaarr thiss Avvaattarrr thaaatt... but yeah o-o

I thought it was awesome.

And about the graphics not being amazing.. WRONG. 40% of the movie is live action.. everything else is CG. It looked soo... real and.. pretty and... ahhhh.

The graphics were drool-able IMO LOLOL

EDIT: And yeahh. 60% wasn't real. Either you weren't paying attention, or you actually thought it was real and therefor you didn't think about it LOL
