Well I don't really know where this should go so i just posted it here. Erm... Is my desktop nice?

Looks pretty cool, but it uses 1ghz processing power JUST for the operating system. That sucks major

yeah its not really that great for gaming... but i hv it at work and am loving it for other day to day usage...

ONly problem is XP is being fazed out. No more will be produced after the end of this year. So only vista from then on. Your gonna need a minimum of 4ghz processing power if you just wanna play the games that are made today and run vista, not including games made later on( that could use lots of processing power as well)

Lolz I'm not using vista. I'm using xp it's just a theme though.. Trying to find some others to change to boot up screen and log in screen.

Err I think you can download it off the net... Well I just like my computer looking nice. And this is more like a mixture of Vista and Linux. The buttons are linux and the penguin as my start button.

Yea I first found the black theme for FireFox. Then I decided it didn't look good with a blue desktop theme so I went searching. And found this.

raising ram cap from 4gigs to 16 and dx10 capabilities aren't good for gaming?

Any computer on any Operating System can be a good computer for gaming. You just gotta build it right. That's why I'm trying to keep all my money hidden away from my parents. So that I can build my own computer sooner or later...

what about macs?

I play 2moons, maple and a few other games on my friend's mac.

well if u've got a super computer like that then by all means...

but for the more common kinda specs.. since Vista will always use more computer capacity (or watever u call it) XP will always hv more spare capacity for gaming....

well yeah, in a given capacity below 4gigs, XP will allow more since it uses less. but XP cannot read more than 4 gigs of RAM (as compared to vista which can read up to 16gigs) and XP has no direct x 10 capabilities, which 80% of the headline games slated for december 07 or later are utilizing.

I have both Operating Systems on my computer, I've played crysis beta on my XP (so only minor anti aliasing and no dx10) and it's hardly worth playing its so ugly. compare that to the vista version where its being lauded as the best looking game developped to date...

o.0 Well for my dad's mac I use a parallel desktop which is Vista. So I can pretty much play whatever game I want.

running a windows Emulator on a mac OS doesn't make the mac OS a good gaming system.

No no it's for those games which doesn't support mac. Those which I can I play on mac.

No, it is not Vista. It's Windows XP. I generally don't upgrade things until it becomes largely supported by almost all applications.
