For North America?
Well I just got done with a quick argument with some guy on the Outspark forums on whether Outsparks Fiesta is only for North America or not. He posted links to the gamengame site and the interview with Daniel Chang as evidence supporting himself.
You don't have to read the stuff below, I just posted it for the curious, but what do you guys think? Is this Fiesta for North America only or no? Me: Outsparks version is global, so far. No where does it say it is only for U.S, Canada, and Mexico, except for on gamengame. But that ad was made by gamenagame, they did that because they blocked North American IPs. So the ad's kind of like a "You're not allowed on this one so go to this one, this is for you", when really, Outspark is more global than gamengame. Also, I hear gamengame only does betas. I'm sure its not that they can't play a Fiesta, its the fact all of their hard work is gone. Him: did you even take a look at the very first link? it clearly says for NA player. it took me 1 secound to google that when this all first happend. ill find more if need be proving this is for Na players if i must but that alone is enough if you ask me Me: Afew quotes from the interview... "Unlike many other MMORPGs available in western markets, Fiesta will always be free to download and enjoy." Western doesn't just refer to "North America". "Outspark wanted to bring it to an English speaking audience." Still didn't say North America. "Accordingly we're grateful to Daniel Chang of regional distributor Outspark for taking time to fill us in on the English-language version of developer Ons On Soft's game, which you can check out now in open beta." ...Again, didn't say North America. "The most important ingredient in the evolution and planning of a game is the player community. Fiesta has only been available to English-speaking players for a short time, but we've already seen several fansites pop up, and a lot of player activity in and around the game, from guild sites to user-generated movies posted on video sharing sites like YouTube." Again.. no North America. Him: im gonna assume your grasp on english is bad. and point out what you missed Quote: "Unlike many other MMORPGs available in western markets, Fiesta will always be free to download and enjoy." meaning its free unlike most wester market games that are not. Quote: "Outspark wanted to bring it to an English speaking audience." yeah i think china when you say english speaking audience./sarcasam take your head from your butt for just one secound and accept it. this game was ment for NA players. your lame attempt to prove me wrong is backed in ZERO Fact. where as that artical supports me and so does the IP ban and gamengames website as well. Me: Okay so... Chinese people can't speak English? Only North Americans speak English? Thats basically what you're saying. For all you may know, I might live in South America. Him: why are you still trying to argue this. when people say english speaking they think america or euope not china korea or japan. stop trying to be ingnorante. Me: I'm not arguing, have I thrown an insult at you? You just called me ignorant, thats how its spelled if you're wondering. You apparently lack culture. When I think of "english speakers" I think of people that speak English, I don't think about America. My goal that I set was to prove that this version of the game isn't just for North America. But you apparently can't accept that North Americans and select Europeans aren't the only people who speak English. Afew people requested I keep going.. Me: Half of the people on this game aren't American. I have friends in the Phillipines, Singapore, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and more. If Outspark's Fiesta turned into a North American only game, they would lose A LOT. Quite frankly, if half of my friends couldn't play, I'd end up losing interest too. Its the players that make the game for me. I'm bored of this and this is my last message to ThreeC, or is it? This is an intelligent discussion, not a "everyone shut up now because ThreeC is right and everyone is wrong" thread. You may have ran out of things to say, you may be ranting your butt off, I don't know. But that is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I love the world and its people, I love the fact that I'm playing a game with people from all cultures, and I hope it stays that way. I was just supporting my opinion and thoughts on Fiesta not being just for North America. And when you picture Europe as an English speaking continent, which countries do you picture? Because very few countries in Europe have English as their native language. I'm a friendly person, but I will not back down in an argument or debate. |
I think it is for North America.... And I suppose Europeans until they get their own version.
|
Half of us on here are Australian.
|
Aussies can go to the Euro version.
|
Actually, it is intended for North America. I don't mind people from other countries playing it for right now unless they have or get their own version. Once they do, I expect them to be gone. The language barrier is the cause of a lot of problems in the game. During Kingdom Quests, during parties, etc. Don't get me wrong, I have several foreign friends but only a few compared to the majority of friends I have living in North America. If I had to lose them just so this game would improve, then so be it. I'll miss them but there are other ways of contacting them. And ThreeC, ugh, that guy is just... well... you can already tell just by reading the stuff he said.
|
Well... sounds like this guy is one of those 15% americans that couldnt find america on the world map coz he thinks there's only 1 island in teh world.. and that's America...

as for whether fiesta is for NA... well when they blocked the China IP it said that it's for NA.. but absolutely no where else says wat country its for... (i even had trouble finding where it's based... ) so i think it's more for the world less the asia countries (coz supposingly they've got their own fiesta) |
This entire site would be split in half.
|
The ingame time is PST too...just on a 24 hour clock.
|
well just coz they're based in NA.. it doesnt mean its not for the rest of the world. Not specifically for fiesta but over all for other international companies.. they hv to pick a headquarter....
|
NOOOOOO. FOEREIGN COUNTRIES IP CANNOT BE BANNED. !!! LOL. mainly because i'm from foreign country myself.
TT. and i totally agree with Hessah and Yosei. Anyway, it should be a profit for outspark if they let asian countries play. Asia is the LARGEST continent in the world. Okay, maybe that wouldn't mean there will be more asian ppl playing than americans, BUT STILL. Anyway, MMORPGs should be global to attract more ppl. What's the fun if it's restricted and less ppl can play?? >.> |
Other than on gamengame, which ISN'T Outspark, I haven't seen any offficial proof that Outsparks Fiesta is for North America only.
Perhaps Izahead will be able to give us some sort of answer? I mean.. if its only for America, then okay, but thats just stupid in my opinion. Its like teasing the forieigners. I'd be sad if we were all split up. |

This is a classic case of "blown way out of proportions."
Most English-language-orientated games tend to attract an international audience. And most English-language-orientated games have their servers up in the US. Why would you even start shit over this? |
So far it's only China that has been banned right? I don't say only to mean that China isn't important just to clarify that it alone has been banned. China has some pretty strict rule and regulations that they try to impose on game companies so maybe it was just better (easier) for Outspark to ban China rather than try to conform to their rules.
Before all this I don't think Fiesta has ever been supposed to be geographically limited to North America and it probably won't be in the future, but that's just my guess. |
Nothing wrong with having a little debate. Some of us are um, I dunno if you could call us "hardcore Fiesta players", but we are regulars, and we are not all American.
|
as far as i can tell from teh ToS... all u need is DSL or cable modem connection... said nothing about where u need to be based and whethe ru need to know how to speak english...

hohum. i went to read the Outspark Terms of Service. @_@ (OMG. WAS IT LONG) And i dun really see a " FOR NORTH AMERICA ONLY " signboard. Maybe foreign IPs are allowed ? ;)
wah. Hessah beat me to that post. >.> |

Most games have their doors open for the whole world and stay that way, like Maplestory, Ragnarok Online, Granada Espada, etc. And besides, considering how low the population is in Fiesta, they wouldn't dare ban IPs from other countries. (I never heard of a game that banned IPs from Aussie-land. Only major Asian countries.) |
I think it should be english server, not north american. English meaning, just freaking speak the language. If you can't, play on a server that supports your language. >_> I mean, I wouldn't wanna play on a game I couldn't understand...what's the point? Lol |
Yea. And well if it was for North America only then they would have sent us away a lot earlier.
|
Outspark has 2 offices..one in Korea, one in California.
|
Only restricted to North America? That would mean they will need to ban more than half the world's worth of IPs. Have fun with that.
I don't think it's restricted to North America. Like others said, English speakers =/= North Americans. If you speak the language, then you can play. Until I see solid proof where they specify that Fiesta is only for North America, I'm not going to believe it. =/ |
Pfffft. Who came up with the idea that Fiesta is just for North Americans? So if I moved from Canada to China, I wouldn't be able to play anymore? Anyone that can understand and speak English should be allowed to play. If you restrict it all to North Americans, you're restricting a bunch of awesome players from entering your MMORPG. |
You'll be more like restricting half of your MMORPG's population.

Well if they have to ban us then at least make sure there's a server for us. One example is EFlyFF. I just realised I can't log in or create a new account. The error they gave me is that they don't provide service to my region. However, the only server I know off is the Jap server. And 1 thing I know, I don't speak Jap.
|
They can't bann foreign IPs no matter what. Or a life will be lost. I currently eat, drink, breathe and sleep Fiesta. Dx
|
Well good luck to you. If they ban your country's IP I'll be at your funeral.
|
I agree with what some of you have been saying,
there should be servers for different languages, which some games have. Then every1 that knows English could play together. And uh.... does every1 in mexico speak english? since todays world is so diverse you cant really base things on Country. but the problem is that there could be english speaking people in some other country like... France, so you cant ban any countries IP going back to a free for all system. They could try to make fiesta not support foreign languages i guess but that would be enourmassly difficult. In all just make more servers that are all free for any1 but encourage certain languages on certain servers |
I like this topic.
Well when the Chinese IP addresses were baned, I sent the Outspark tech support a mail.
This was their reply: ~~~ Dear James, Thank you for contacting Outspark.com support! Outspark.com service of Fiesta is reserved for North American users.Your region is offering it's own version of Fiesta. Please find that service in your region. Thank you, Outspark Support On 11/1/07 Dear Outspark Team, Sorry to be taking up your time, but after I installed the new patch as of halloween I have been unabled to enter Fiesta. An error with the following is displayed: There was a problem logging you in. Please check that your username and password are correct, and that you are running the lastest Outspark software. (Unauthorized: 403) I have restarted my computer numerous times, checked and double checked my Username and password, and have downloaded the newest patch. I am absolute that I contributed positively to the Fiesta Community and am very confused as to why I have an Unauthorized: 403 error upon trying to log in. I have posted in the Fiesta website Forums and also noticed that dozens of other players are suffering from the same error. Again I would like to thank you for your time and attention, and please respond as soon as possible. Sincerely, James Pao Oriax - Level 38 Fighter Proud Admin of the CrimsonWolves Guild Well with that e-mail, I hope it's sufficient proof that Fiesta is for North Americans. I suspect that the other countries will start to be baned with each patch. There IS a european version of the game. There IS a SEA version of the game. Not sure about Aussie though. Really is a shame, I wonder who they will ban for Christmas, I mean China was baned on Halloween. Sigh* they shoulda made it at least, at the very least not on a holiday. >.< Trick of treat? |
hoho. if that's the case, i'm really dead. Like Zotius said, there will be my funeral. And a free all-you-can-eat dinner. All of u are invited! xD
Any kind cleric woud like to revive me during my funeral? >.> |
Oh. >:
Then will we Aussies get banned? T__T" |
China's banned already? O________O Then how did I get on today? >.> And fail my Mara KQ too? |
Hmm Yea how did you. I think they might ban the SEA region.
|
I think us Aussies falls in teh SEA region...
and.. there's SEA version of this game?? |
Nope. Not yet.
|
That's just plain BS.
