omg noooo T_T

my mom is gonna put that evil program on again. goodbye to more than an hour a night on the computer. :cries: :cries: :cries: :cries: :cries:

Hraesvelg 11-09-2009 01:02 AM

I'm not advocating it, but there are always ways around those types of programs.

cillia 11-09-2009 01:10 AM

ive tried to find ways... T.T i even brought my laptop which has the program on it to my friend who nows how to hack most things and he couldnt.....

Leesa 11-09-2009 01:12 AM

Even he couldn't? O_O Wow..

But nuuu now I can't play with you on ESO and talk to you or anything!! T_T

cillia 11-09-2009 01:36 AM

T.T yeah i probably wont even be playing osu at this rate. 1 hour a night is... very strict since i normally draw, play osu, maybe play some mmos, make an amv, make a signature... D: the list goes on and on

and 3 hours on weekends is scary. 3 hours is.. DDD:

Pebbles 11-09-2009 02:38 AM

Is it "Computer Time"?

Yeah. I have that too. ;-;

cillia 11-09-2009 02:42 AM

the program is called KidsWatch D: but its terrible...

OMG she just told me i have 20 mins hten shes putting it on T___T WAAAHHHHHHHH

Hessah 11-09-2009 02:45 AM

I had the 1 hr thing too when I was your age..

But back in my days, I only had 1 thing I could do and that was ICQ xD

Belaslav 11-09-2009 02:52 AM

You can always do something productive and Google "How to hack KidsWatch" during that one hour.

If you Windows account has admin access, it should be a snap. Otherwise, you might need to do some registry editing from Safe Mode. Of course, I'm really not sure how you could do it and not make it obvious you'd bypassed it, though.

Triumph 11-09-2009 03:21 AM

Log in as administrator.
Remove program via Add/Remove programs.

If administrator is locked:
Turn off computer.
Turn on computer.
Spam F8.
Safe mode launch.
Log in as default "Administrator."
Remove program as Administrator, or remove password on another administrator.
Restart computer.

I'm advocating it. Registry editing can work, but beyond most average users' capabilities. Brute force appears to be the only solution.

Hraesvelg 11-09-2009 03:34 AM

Talk about really not being subtle at all, heh. I was thinking about borking the startup entries in the registry, so that the program would still appear to be working when the parent opens it up. I'd have to play around with the actual program for a bit, though, and since it doesn't really affect me, I can't be bothered to find a copy and screw with it. Maybe if I get really, really bored.

Leesa 11-09-2009 03:34 AM

My hero...

http://www.laymark.com/i/m/m015.gif

Well, her hero but still *o*

Hessah 11-09-2009 03:36 AM

Would that get cillia banned from the computer altogether? (The triumph method..)

cillia 11-09-2009 03:41 AM

that happend before when i found a way to bypass it. i got banned for a week or 2...

well i mean i still have my ipod so i can still browse forums and stuff, but it takes millions times longer to load.
6seconds of a youtube video could take up to a minute for that to load on my ipod..

so meh. i can live with my ipod, but i cant play games or draw/color stuff on it.

Hessah 11-09-2009 03:43 AM

What's the point of taking you off the computer if you're gonna be on your ipod anyway?

Or does someone else use the computer?

cillia 11-09-2009 03:47 AM

idk. she doesnt want me on there alot? xD but honestly the ipod is worse for my health cuz its such a small screen.

at a point my mom restricted my ipod so that there was no internet on it, but i easily bypassed it by restoring my ipod. idk if she knows it has internet or not xD

and im the only one who uses my pc

Destrus 11-09-2009 03:50 AM

o_o an hour on the computer is not enough to do anything.

i'd go into my rant about this stuff but i'm afraid that it would go to the point of insulting your mother so i'll restrain myself just this once.

Lirange 11-09-2009 04:00 AM

poor cillia D:

cillia 11-09-2009 04:00 AM

lol my mom gets minutely insults from my friends and i... xD honestly more so with her boyfriend. i almost welcome you to rant LOL

We don't have all of the facts. Her grades may be failing due to too much unrestricted computer time. She might be a latchkey kid and the parents can't monitor the usage. I know, it's easy to be pissed off at a parent, but if you ever have kids, you'll see why stuff like this can be needed.

Destrus 11-09-2009 04:08 AM

it probably bothers me more because i was never restricted on the computer. i've had my own computer since i was 11 or 12 and haven't even been monitored on the computer since i could type and find my way around it myself. i can't remember when this was about i started with playing games i had to run through dos. heck i've been on the internet so long i can't even remember why i used ot be on it before i started playing games on it o_o. holy crap i'm old

Hraesvelg 11-09-2009 04:16 AM

I was the same way. And I know what I did with that unrestricted time, which isn't exactly something I want my kid doing, heh.

Destrus 11-09-2009 04:17 AM

i suddenly get the feeling i'm more "innocent" than hraes ._.

True. In all honesty, I would just disable the internet after one hour. A computer is needed much more than in the past. Internet usage has become quite necessary for many tasks, so restricting internet would still allow usage of word processing, and other programs like Photoshop.

Hraesvelg 11-09-2009 04:36 AM

If it's needed for a project or homework, it can be bypassed by a person with the password.

Hessah 11-09-2009 04:43 AM

Looking at Cillia's first post.. she's being limited access to her computer altogether not just the internet..

What if you try your mum and suggest you only get 1 hour or Internet.. but still get some time on the computer, doing your own arty stuff?

ive tried talking about it countless times but she just says its still time that im looking at the screen :/ and she says if i want to draw i should use my sketchbook. and if i want to color use my colored pencils or markers...

and i get good grades... As and Bs and now and again Cs... but i get worse grades when my computer time is restricted x.x its not on purpose, i just cant work as well.

Rightclaw 11-09-2009 06:31 AM

So she is doing it for "health" reasons?

I got my first computer at age 1. Srsly.

Hessah 11-09-2009 06:42 AM

To be honest, my eyes has gone worse from teh screen.. esp the period that I was playing Fiesta.. I was concentrating so hard, for so long, for such a short distance.. my short sight got worse...

Yeah, me too. My parents just gave up soon enough. LOL

Fighterboy 11-09-2009 11:20 AM

Im just sneaky :D

Chimaera 11-09-2009 01:10 PM

We have four computers in the house. Two of them in my room alone connect by Synergy. One in my mom's room and one in the living room. I manage all of them. I'm actually teaching my mom some basics with photoshop — she wants to start scrapbooking. She keeps going back to Paint.NET, but I guess that's okay for a start.

Anyway,

I couldn't imagine having such a program installed.

I have to admit, I'd probably restrict my future kids from the computer.

But I'm responsible. :cutielove:

Jikanu 11-09-2009 01:24 PM

Hm... that sucks.

my parents have wanted me to have less time a time or two the past, but never so much as 1 hour, and never for health reasons.

Good luck convincing them
