"Uh wow. Who would be silly enough to carry an unloaded fire arm?"

Aha!

No getting into some super serious discussion over this. Especially if its going to turn into a Obama bad/good or blah blah.

So lame when you guys do that. You just go in circles and nothing ever changes. :smarty:

It would be rather dumb to carry an unloaded weapon. I'm still trying to figure out exactly which rights were taken away from him, since he wasn't arrested and was left alone.

Hell, you show up at an event the President is going to with a gun and that sign and you damn well should have a little talk with the Secret Service to make sure that you're not a madman.

A_Forever 08-13-2009 03:24 AM

Yeah. I agree about the sign part and all. That was kind of saying, "i wans 2 shooot da prezzy"

Edit: Typo in my title. firearm* too lazy to fix it.

It's alluding to a very strong line from Jefferson, which I've used myself from time to time. It's meant to stir some strong emotions. There's a fine line between using the line in rhetoric and actually advocating armed revolution. The sign with the gun in proximity to the event doesn't really leave much for interpretation.

I know who it came from o-o

And yeah.

In fact, I used this as my signature image here and other places for a while:

The thing that I think needs to be pointed out is that the remedy is to set them right on the facts. There are problems with the health care reform bill as proposed, there's no denying. But the opposition really hasn't been factually based.

Not saying who's right or wrong but knowing our laws, rules, government, police, etc etc, yeah, it was a stupid thing to do.

Hraesvelg 08-13-2009 04:06 AM

He was probably really disappointed he wasn't forcibly removed from the scene. He wanted to make a point about being denied his rights, yet...nothing happened. The system worked, heh.

Ralath 08-13-2009 04:09 AM

Gawwwwwdd I wish these political hosts would just STOP YELLING and let people talk.

Yosei 08-13-2009 04:11 AM

As if anyone cares about what they think xD

Hraesvelg 08-13-2009 04:14 AM

I think that they're having quite a bit of technical difficulties with Hardball these days. It seems that there is a considerable delay between Chris and the guests. It leads to a bunch of stuttering starts and stops when someone is waiting for their feed to catch up. Makes it appear worse than it is. That being said, Matthews was obviously pissed off at this guy and didn't really care what he was saying.

Ralath 08-13-2009 04:15 AM

Uh... I was kind of following that guy (as in, following his reasoning, not necessarily his point of view) up until his last comment that said it would have been a safer crowd (safer from what?????) if everybody had a gun.

Hraesvelg 08-13-2009 04:18 AM

That's the "an armed society is a polite society" idea. If everyone has a gun, they're too afraid to get too far out of line for fear they'll be shot, so everyone plays nice. One of those things that sound good on paper but doesn't exactly pan out so well in real life.

Rightclaw 08-13-2009 07:26 AM

God Chris Matthews is more annoying/loud than Bill O'Reilly.

Jikanu 08-13-2009 07:30 AM

^ Is that even POSSIBLE!? O_O

The same level, maybe.. but... could he possibly be the chosen one the prophesies foretold? o.o

I can't recall a single time Chris Matthews ever invited a guest on then cut his mic. Matthews also doesn't have a daily "No Spin Zone" that that would make a dervish queasy. That leaves O'Reilly out there in front.
