!!!!!!!Warning!!!!!!!!!!!

Reciently I was a victom of a trojan rat by a fiesta player. I wiki what a rat was and it is as follow
Remote administrative trojan
Allows someone to control every part of your computer including uploading downloading live screen capter control of both mouse and keyboard and keylogger

Apperently this person was on my and my familys account doing illegal things and when i sent a ticket after being banned for no reason i serched my pc and for this rat and added to the ticket and did virustotals and avast screen shots and sent them in along with the players id that sent me the picture called nude_pic.exe.

Well they wont talk to me or even unbann my accounts after getting rid of this rat thing and are now being very rude to me and my friends banning ppl with different ip address and more so be advised if you are a victom of a hacker do not think outspark is going to help you or even talk to you, your accounts will be banned and you will never get them back for something you never did

How did that program end up on your computer? did someone send it to you via email / site?

Belaslav 07-19-2009 02:36 AM

...

You're joking, right? You downloaded something (especially porn!?!) off the internet and ran it like that without scanning first?!?!

Get the free "Hrae" Bundle: Avast, ThreatFire, and Spybot S&D. And maybe McAfee Site Advisor for the kicks.

Hraesvelg 07-19-2009 02:39 AM

I actually had some problems with Threatfire. It kept failing to respond after a while. You can't kill it without going to Herculean efforts (otherwise it would be ineffective), and I also couldn't start any more programs when it would freeze. I finally got rid of it. More trouble than it was worth.

Belaslav 07-19-2009 02:45 AM

Well, I've been using ever since you suggested it to me, and I had no problems so far (except for the false positives).

Hraesvelg 07-19-2009 03:34 AM

If it's working for you, more power to ya, heh. It was driving me up a wall.

I thought McAfee destroys anything it touches?

Belaslav 07-20-2009 03:03 AM

When it comes to antivirus, yes... But the site advisor basically pops up site descriptions next to links when using google search.

Here's a nice trick to check for keyloggers:
Quote:

1) Start >> Run >> 'CMD'
2) Type "netstat -ano" (without the quotations)
3) Look to the PID category
If it's 0 means none of programs is using that port
look at the port and at what it does e.g. Listening, Established
If it's listening and its more than 40,000 be 98% sure its a keylogger.
More sophisticated and laborious methods can be found here.

On a side note, it is a matter of opinion really: Spybot S&D is not as good as it used to be any more (you can ask this on any security forums like BleepingComputer, SpywareInfo, PCPitstop, etc.). If you use Firefox, the addon WoT would be a nice replacement for McAfee Site Advisor. As for ThreatFire, the latest test reveals that it fell short of expectations.

Belaslav 07-20-2009 05:25 AM

Meh, I still like my stuff cause it's free.

As for PID trick, Vista users can just use the services tab in the task manager.

lamchopz 07-20-2009 06:00 AM

hehe, don't get me wrong, I used to be a fan of Spybot and Ad-Aware as well. I've only come back to those security forums recently and found out that the new freeware they favour in place of the good old Spybot and Ad-Aware are: Malwarebytes Antimalware and SUPERAntispyware (both offer free versions).

Now here's the Fiesta related bit: For anti-keylogger protection, you need a good firewall with HIPS (listed in the maltousec website posted above). Your antivirus/antispyware aren't really the solution as commonly thought. A good firewall will alert you if a program tries to intercept keystrokes (typical behaviour of a keylogger), something an antivirus/antispyware cannot do. There are some antikeyloggers out there as well but they aren't free. In the end, it's your choice.

FiestaFan93 07-27-2009 02:53 AM

that just creepy

crazyplay 07-28-2009 03:42 AM

thanks, we should be careful too ...

Belaslav 07-28-2009 05:59 AM

More like you shouldn't be dumb and run executable porn.

Hraesvelg 07-28-2009 06:04 AM

LOL. Those particular "social engineers" were phoning it in. I think about the only more obvious virus would be something entitled "OMGVIRUS!.exe"

zeilfridge 08-29-2009 07:27 PM
