Censoring in game
 

No game censor is perfect.

anyways! I think a solution to this would be to allow turning censor on and off on the user's end. A system like that is in place on other (commercial I might add) MMORPGs, so why do they have to forcefeed us these *****s here? Especially when the censor is stupid enough to completely censor words like "mass" just because they happen to have "ass" as part of them. *foreheadslap*

"Clam" is censored because it is also slang for a female body part.

I have seen alot worse censorship in other games but i have noticed that some words that are censored for us to say are said by the NPC's in thier little stories.

snatch is censored i found out. I said something along the lines of "set it to sequential if you dont like that i just snatch up all the drops" and everyone was like "if you WHAT all the drops?"

True, but I highly doubt that the name of a quest item will be filtered out. Its filtration is most likely based on the fact that its slang version has a more...mature definition, if you will.

then change the clams in game into oysters?

lets say you're with a buddy doing quests "what else do you need?" "i need ***** meats." "you need what?" "c l a m meats"

yeah.. i still dun understand why they filler "Cl***" (Class) but they dont filter "Crappp" isnt it the same thing?? (adding letters in front or after the word) how come it works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt...?

They need to redo the swear filter. Everything else is server sided, wonderful against hacks and what not. The only thing they made server sided was the swear filter..maybe they got lazy or something.

Free to play doesn't mean they don't make a profit lol =p That's why free to play's always have cash shops >_>

Psh, this isn't a problem for me. Because I don't swear? Hell no. xD

Heh, yeah, this was something I learned about in FlyFF. If you extend the letters, add spaces, combine words, etc., you can bypass the filter. One thing I loved in a game I once played, and for the life of me I can't remember the name but there are a few, was having the ability the toggle the swear filter. I like to swear...a LOT, and most of the people I play with do too. It gets rather annoying when you have to try and figure out what your friend is saying.

Anyway I agree, I think the censor on a whole is poorly done. Sometimes I go to say common words, and my sentence comes out looking like I have a sailor mouth, I realize the game is free to play however, and there are a ton of more important bugs to be fixed, but it wouldn't hurt to revise the censor when they have some spare time... which will probably be never.

I thik its just stupid to censor normal words cause people will just try to avoid them and somtimes you want to use the word normally.
and to clam being censored for being slang..... people will just make a new word for it.

I see the future...1000 years from now everything will be censored for no apparent reason :P
But seriously i think they will just make it censor more not less.

Uhh.. you couldn't say "titles"... umm.. I can't really remember.. but I don't think you could bypass the filter by placing a space in between or whatever back then. I forgot, but it was worse. ><"

It's kinda irritating at times...i wanna set up a vendor with rings, earrings, and necklaces, and call it Jewlry Shop, and can't.....Jew...least i thinks that's why...lol
