Someone posted the first video before, but not the second.

But wow, if it's really THAT real, then... they're really discouraging having real friends! LLOL!!

Loveless 06-10-2009 07:08 AM

Yeah, who needs friends when you can talk to Milo.

Yosei 06-10-2009 01:24 PM

Leesa 06-10-2009 01:59 PM

I found Milo creepy when I watched the press conference live. Go outside and make friends. Talking to a computer 10 year old is creepier than going out to a park and talking to a random 10 year old, and the latter is pretty creepy as well.

Loveless 06-10-2009 03:28 PM

I don't usually look there because people post about a new game without any links to the actual game...

and it seems like quite a few missed it so whatever.

Hraesvelg 06-10-2009 03:59 PM

Excellent. I've always wanted to keep small children in a box for sheer entertainment purposes.

Manzcar 06-10-2009 04:01 PM

Funny but wrong...I think that's a nice distillation of my sense of humor.

Loveless 06-10-2009 04:21 PM

Must... not... laugh in class.

Hraesvelg 06-10-2009 05:53 PM

Hey now...I didn't imply anything sexual, LOL. Sensory deprivation, hallucinogen reaction, extremes of hot and cold...there are all sorts of nifty things you can do with a person in a box that doesn't involve sex.

Edit: Looks like Project Natal better kick it in gear before they have a lawsuit from the NAACP.

That's the full URL. Maybe C&Ping will get it. Take off the bracket, of course.

Project Natal struggles with dark skinned people

Project Natal has been receiving high mark in terms of innovative technology and unique ideas. However, not all is well with the concept, or so it would seem. During E3, N’Gai Croal wasn’t having as easy of a time with Natal during a Paradise test drive.

Dan Hsu on Bitmod describes: “When game consultant and former Newsweek writer N'Gai Croal gave Paradise a test drive, however, the game had trouble reading his steering actions. The footwork (gas and brakes) worked fine, but Croal couldn't steer his car at all. It wasn't clear whether this was a problem of calibration differences between Tsunoda and Croal's very different body types, or if Croal's crazy dreadlocks threw Natal off. But it was working just fine when Tsunoda was at the "wheel."”

Different body types? Could Natal be so sensitive that certain body structures and physical builds throw off the calibration of the camera? That’s certainly a possibility or is it that the camera simply had a hard time detecting Croal because of his skin color? This is actually quite possible. In a test report of Near-infrared spectroscopy, the technology does have a problem detecting darker skinned individuals.

In the report: "The NIRS device failed to register tissue saturation values at some point in nine of seventeen volunteers. This occurred more often in individuals with darker skin. Conclusions. In patients with a dark pigmented skin, NIRS StO2 measurements should be interpreted with caution, as melanin clearly interferes with the quality of the reflected NIRS signal."

Hopefully, the development team is aware of this situation and finds a solution. This could be catastrophic if not taken care of immediately.

I can just see Microsofts head Q&A guy going, "Dammit! Black people! I knew we forgot something..."

Manzcar 06-10-2009 06:26 PM

VP's across Microsoft slamming their head on their desk saying :hulksmash::hulksmash: "Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?!?!?!?!" :hulksmash::hulksmash:

Hraesvelg 06-10-2009 06:31 PM

And then they're getting on the phone with Human Resources, "Quick! Hire some black people for the Q&A team!"

Yosei 06-10-2009 06:34 PM
