Beatles Rockband

They've announced a beatles rockband... but im concerned: is this going to totally defile my most beloved band and portray them in a bit of a different light than what they really are?

your thoughts?

A_Forever 06-05-2009 04:06 AM

Yes.

LMAO

Lirange 06-05-2009 04:07 AM

eh, i'm not a big fan of beatles
except hello goodbye

A_Forever 06-05-2009 04:08 AM

Twist and shout o-o

Jikanu 06-05-2009 04:09 AM

Pfft. Strawberry Fields, A Day In the Life, and Come Together, and you guys are thinking of Paul's stuff? srsly?

A_Forever 06-05-2009 04:10 AM

Come together is good.

Jikanu 06-05-2009 04:12 AM

If they dont have Strawberry Fields Forever and/or A day in the life, it's not worth buying. even though the rest of their stuff is magnificent, and better than 5429% of everything that's out there right now, that's the pinnacle of their work, and not including those two songs would be a travesty. imo, at least.

We'll(Brothers) get it just because its Rockband~

Hraesvelg 06-05-2009 06:01 AM

I'll have to find more people to sing, since they're incorporating the harmony parts.

The trailer is at www.beatlesrockband.com

Phantom Badger 06-05-2009 06:22 AM

It looks cool, The Beatles singing. I just hope when we play 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' they look like they're on crack.
Ooooo or there could be some hidden mode for it where the screen goes all funny coloured and twisty (like drug use...well I assume it'd be similar o.o;;) just for fun xD

Ralath 06-05-2009 09:00 AM

Woww. I love love love that at style in the Opening Cinematic.

Ralath 06-05-2009 09:03 AM

Ur.... that is.... before they got to the weird elephants and birds.

Yosei 06-05-2009 12:53 PM

Can't beat the original though

<3 Here Comes The Sun.

Jikanu 06-05-2009 02:26 PM

im worried that they're gonna be portrayed as happy little people, and stuff, without displaying any of the complexities of the true people... john's artistry vs. his drinking problem, paul's charisma vs. his arrogance, and... well, george and ringo didnt really have huge problems.

Im just worried that it'll be a massive commercialization of the band to make them look like a bunch of pauls :/

Hraesvelg 06-05-2009 02:59 PM

...dude. It's Rockband. There isn't any sort of backstory going on (at least I hope not). You just pick up the instruments and jam.

Yosei 06-05-2009 03:00 PM

They sure as hell better not be angsty <.< too many frickin angsty bands these days. They don't need to make the beatles sound angsty ;p

Jikanu 06-05-2009 07:24 PM

True.. but seeing them just be overly bright and happy would just piss me off.

Hraesvelg 06-05-2009 07:49 PM

Most of us play video games to have fun. This isn't Behind the Music or an RPG. I never thought about the inner turmoil of my avatar while he was jamming on stage, on if he was managing to pay his bills, or if he had creative differences with the drummer. I was worried if I did a proper riff on the guitar/bass and if I was singing in tune that way I could get five stars.

Jikanu 06-05-2009 07:52 PM

*sigh* you're right... sorry...

A_Forever 06-06-2009 06:04 AM

LMAO. xD

DeathMagnetic 06-06-2009 07:28 PM

Ew.. Beatles..?
-Thinks of Yellow Submarine-

Jikanu 06-06-2009 07:31 PM

pfft. you fail.

DeathMagnetic 06-06-2009 07:33 PM

Psh, yeah.
I only listen to the good 80's bands.
Aka; the ones that still make albums.

It's a bit hard for a band to make an album when 50% of the band is dead, including one of the principal songwriters.

Also, 80's?

1980's.
And Metallica. (:

Hraesvelg 06-06-2009 07:45 PM

I understood that 80's referred to the decade, but how you emphazied good seemed to imply you considered the Beatles to be a band of the 80's. They were a band from the 60's.

Jikanu 06-06-2009 07:49 PM

90% of 80's bands fail in musicianship.

Oh, and the guys in metallica are sellouts, dude.

Why? Because he doesn't agree with your taste in music?

The fact that they are sell-outs (if that is true) affects their music how? I don't like the Beatles either. And do tell me how you measure "musicianship".

No, he fails because he judges the band on their worst song.

And i should have said in my opinion, all apologies for that. however, i measure it on the following:

1. Feeling. the amount of emotion put in the song.

2.Originality. Few 80s bands had a sound that differed from other bands, and most followed trends.

And selling out affects their character, which calls how much the integrity of their songs into question. For example, if a rich man ranted about how bad the plight of the poor was, and how much he related would you consider him reliable?

Hraesvelg 06-07-2009 04:19 AM

Except for Willie Nelson, he gets a pass to sing about tacos all he wants to (with apologies to Bill Hicks).

He didn't say he didn't like the Beatles because of the yellow submarine.

What if I don't give a rats ass about that, and only want hard, loud beats? Also do tell me how you measure the "emotion" put into songs. You keep trying to prove how some music is "better" than the other. You can't. It's subjective. I might like "Mary had a little lamb" more than Bach and I'm not "wrong".

Integrity of their songs? You're losing me here.

DeathMagnetic 06-07-2009 02:15 PM

Mmm, 60's?
Interesting.
