The only thing hiding your online status does is prevent regular users seeing what topics you are viewing. We can still see you are online thanks to the main page.

I even see Spirit do this even after she claimed she left you can't stay away from Fiesta Fan its like a drug you leave but you always come crawling back.

No, Spirit's thread is not the same as this one.

Spirit is taking a break from FF, but can still come every now and then to take care of bots or little things. She just can't be here as much as she used to be. She made a thread because she is a mod and she felt she should tell us what's she up to so we know why she is temporarily half inactive. It's called being responsible, rather than flying off without saying anything.

Spirit never said she was leaving for good, but just sort of walking away for a while. I would think that would include the occasional glance/post on the forums.

Perhaps Spirit wasn't the best example but you get the idea its never a good idea to say you are leaving for good when you yourself never know what the future will hold (This is from personal experience). It also upsets them more if you tell them you are (Generally with your close friends) Thats why when I stopped playing my last MMORPG game I told my friends I would be leaving and when they asked if I will return I said I don't know.
