Meditation...
Have you guys had times where you try to go to sleep... but your mind is racing with heaps of problems / thoughts / random buzzing things... and you toss and turn and can't go to sleep??
I've recently heard a little meditation technique... That I think it has helped me sleep on those funny nights... When people tell you to meditate, they tell you to not think about anything right? But... how do you keep your mind blank? I never understood that.. So what I was told.. was you concentrate on breathing. Just think "Breathe in... Breathe out... Breathe in.. Breathe out..." You may find that your mind drifts to all these other thoughts, but try not to think about them and only think about breathing... after a min or two I usually fall asleep.... |
My 5th grade teacher had us do that every morning before we started class~ ^^ it really calmed us down~ its a good technique. :3
|
Do you fall asleep? xD
Apparently some people can meditate for 20 mins like that in a quiet room.. and they feel as if they slept for hours... |
XD no one ever fell asleep since we only did it for about 10 mins. plus sometimes our teacher would tell us to do that "hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" thing... and a certain person in our class "hummmmmmmmmmmmms" like a moter cycle.. LOL so alot of people cracked up and the whole meditation thing failed XD
|
LOL!! I could imagine how distracting that would be xD
|
Something that really helps me is to "see nothing."
So even though it'll be dark and my eyes will be closed, your brain still is "seeing" different images. The first thing I try to do is make those images turn black, so the only thing I'm seeing is black. And then I turn black into nothing. xD |
sounds complicated D: i cant ever see black when my eyes are closed cuz... o-o theres always lil specs.. (like that fuz on tvs Dx)

"Meditating" like that worked once or twice at first... but it never works anymore. There was also a time where I tried to visualize a box in my head, and then I would throw all the images in the box and "lock" it. I think it worked every now and then because it took so much energy for me to force those images into the box because THEY KEPT POPPING BACK OUT! But it doesn't work if I'm REALLY distracted. Other times I might try to imagine myself in a meadow. LOL. |

Ohh you use your eyes... that's interesting...
but that sounds so complicated.. Breathing... is easy HAHAH And you don't need to worry about your stomach inflating / deflating... |

So.. wat do you think about the spot? Just.. "this is a black spot this is a black spot" or... "this is what I can do with a black spot"?
|
I think this: "When you choke a smurf, what colour does it turn?"

cool. I sometimes stare at a distant object and I start to think about one certain thing. Thinking about that thing then starts some sort of train of thoughts that calms me down. When I do this I still notice my suroundings, but I dont get distracted since Im in an "I dont a damn" state of mind. The only bad thing is that sinse im sort of staring into space, I give the impresion that im staring at someone. That and I dont blink.
>< |
I used to do what someone else said try and make myself see just black, it worked once or twice but now whenever I try I end up con centrating too hard which means I cant sleep.
A good trick is to TRY and stay awake via thinking "If I do an all nighter I wont be able to do that French test" You always fsall asleep because your brain hates you. :D |
Breathe.

Yeah that breathing thing is called "Anapana meditation." They made us do it in my school every morning from 5th grade to 10th.
However, I prefer the WOT method. You have to imagine a flame, and feed all your emotion, your thoughts into the fire, until there's nothing left but the fire. Then, you slowly put out the fire, and feel calmer. |
I think it's also in Yoga right? the breathing thing..?
Those ones sounds so advance @_@ How do I feed my emotions to a flame?! It's never ending right? |
Ohh... did that in Yoga class. I have to be careful though cause I can feel myself drifting off right before class starts. Helps with sleep most definitely; just relaxing your body and letting it sink into the mattress.
Used to also do it before and after karate practice. Sometimes my sensei would like to go longer than usual and that's when everything turns white. You get to forget everything that went on during the day and really concentrate in practice. |
