A Short Story
 

I've decided to pass the next two hours waiting to jump on Bijou as quickly as possible and steal all of Bla~ahs names by writing a fun little story about my rather short experience on the Apoline server. I hope you enjoy.




Disclaimer: No names have been changed in this story. Fuck the innocent.

Chapter 1: Life Before Apoline

I came upon Fiesta through GunZ. Guntrix and DSChang, of all people, are clan mates with my in my clan (Panties) and so it was pushed a bit. I was able to obtain entry into the closed beta after it had started through my aforementioned friends in high places. While in there, i enjoyed myself. It wasn't a grind fest like some free MMOs, it was fairly diverse in just about all aspects, and the GMs were having events and passing out items like candy. Eventually the closed beta ended and I all but forgot about Fiesta. I was reminded of it when i heard there would be a second closed beta AND our characters from the first would be rolled over. so I grabbed my trusty cleric once again and went to do battle with the evil monsters of the Isya continent.

I got bored about the time my cleric hit level 40 and felt that my waste of skill points (i empowered damage absorption pre-nerf) was irreversible. I sold everything, transfered the money to storage and started over with KY Jelly, the archer.

I felt much more at home on KY Jelly. no more being a parties' personal HP resevoir and capable of a bit more versatility was a fresh breath. and i felt like i was levelling at warp speed after all that grinding from 30-40 (i solo'd most of the time because of my aforementioned feelings toward being a cleric in a party) I got Jelly to level 22 before the second closed beta also ended.

Then the open beta started. I was much more aware of it this time, having been re-vitalized at how much fun questing and levelling was, having used a lower level character for the second half of closed beta. I was heart broken to find out that alt codes had been filtered out of character titles. the space between KY and Jelly was gone, and more importantly, my Closed Beta Tester title which i rightfully earned and deserved was markedly absent.

I quickly got over this setback, created KYJelly, and got back to work. I levelled slowly, didn't play often, and the game was really nothing more than a time waster for me. However after a strange series of events i could no longer play gunz (problem with the school network apparently) so Fiesta became game numero uno for me.

After meeting up with another GunZ clan mate in the game, we decided to make a Panties Guild, in homage to the greatest GunZ clan ever invented. We were going to have all the same rules.

something went horribly wrong, however. No one was following our rules, people were leaving at random, insulting other guilds and causing some very rediculous situations (4v1 guild war? yeah good times) so we booted everyone and made the guild invite only.

Chapter 2 The Migration

it was about that time i found out that other GunZ players were playing on the Apoline server. I decided since panties was basically defunct, my archer was a fairly low level, and my buddy James was willing to make the move as well, I cut my losses and moved to Apoline.

While there, I tried out all 4 classes before settling on a Fighter (with James choosing cleric, making us a fairly effective 2 man party) I levelled fairly easily and made plenty of money (having all the practice from previous play) and was a level 22 pure end clever fighter with a 1h sword+shield as well as a 2h sword and an axe, fully up to date on all my equipment skills (and even had level 24 boots and level 25 1h sword mastery and slice n dice)

James and I started playing in vine tomb, killing Hobs and gaining experience at a pretty good clip. It was before one of these Vine Tomb adventures everything went horribly wrong. I was in elderine waiting for James to log in when i noticed Steam was in town. Having had minor contact with Dakkon but none with Steam, i decided to chat with him. Problem was, i needed something to catch his attention over the usual "ooh a GM, lets all perform fellatio on him and maybe he'll give us stuff" type of comments. So i quickly entered in /s Dakkon > Steam. True Story.

Well, it worked. he quickly appeared next to me. His dark black eyes stared deep into my soul. I made a comment about him not appreciate my comment then next thing i know, i'm disconnected.

"wow, he sure got me" i thought as i quickly logged back in to have a quick laugh with him. I clicked on my fighter and entered Elderine without glancing at my name. when i finally got in i saw it. "SchmuckersJelly" some hideous joke with only a minor resemblance to my previous name had been placed over my head. Surely this was a joke.

Surely, i was wrong. After some words with Steam, it appears my name was inappropriate. He mentioned something along the lines of "Don't blame me, Dakkon changed it." BS. Dakkon has seen me plenty of times on the teva server and never once made mention of my name. Not only did he attempt to throw his co-worker under the bus, he got caught in his own lie. Then i went on to berate him about how he ruined this character and now i have to remake it and blah blah and he could have at least warned me. That's when he said he did warn me i must not have read it. Once again BS. I moved myself in a position so as to not have my chat box spammed with gold farmers. I scanned the shouts for a reply to my dakkon>steam comment, nothing. there were no non shout comments made. Thats lie number two, keep up the good work there Steam.

At first i resisted. I recreated KYJelly as well as creating Astroglide and BiteMeSteam. i was quickly disconnected and they were all changed. It was at that time i figured that it was pointless to keep this up. I made 16Bit, a play off James' cleric 8Bit and went to work trying to get to level 20 by the end of the night.

after about an hour i was just short of level 9. My scrolls ran out and the server was about to go down for 5 hours so i figured that was a good time to log off.

during Apoline's down time, i thought to jump on Teva and give away some of my in game gold and such in an attempt to finalize my move. thats when i found my account was blocked. Odd. I tried logging into Outspark to ask Steam about it, blocked there as well. I had definitely been banned. Wow. For what? For expressing my opinion about the GM? odd considering if i made a char that said BiteMeBlaaahs or BiteMeYosei or the like, i doubt anyone would care, besides yosei or blaaaahs maybe. Although i have a feeling they'd
take it as some weird form of flattery, sick freaks.

So in order to get some answers, i jumped on my spoof account (i make one for every game i play) I PMed Steam on the outspark forums asking why. I really did nothing other than ask why, i did what i could to take any rudeness out of it or jump to any conclusions. i just wanted to get some answers.

In the meantime, i created a 3rd account with a false identity, picked up the pieces, and got back to work. after 2 days, however, i had only achieved level 5. I had fallen back into my lull of not caring anymore. Oh well.

I also went to check for an answer from Steam on Outspark two days later. I unfortunately couldn't check as my spoof account had been banned as well. Somehow i really doubt he ever read past "this is KYJelly" in the PM. he just seems like that kind of a person. I'll let you determine what "that kind of person" means.

Chapter 3 Life Without The Lube


So, am i at all bitter about this? nah. it's just a game. The only real part i consider a waste of time is that hour before i was banned i spent levelling 16Bit. I will probably stop posting here eventually, as giving any more information about my new identity could get it banned.

I've managed to catch DSChang on MSN and he said although he disagrees, he doesn't want to unban me. basically he doesn't want to undermine the authorities of the GMs. I guess my trump card turned up bust this time, huh?

Probably the greatest part about all this is the things I HAVEN'T been banned for. An example: I have stolen a cumulative total of 4gold from power level sites. I've multi booted fiesta and partied and botted myself to plvl a character for a friend. I've outright exploited the rules in every GM event i've participated in (mass recruit before GWing black blades, then kicking everyone after receiving prize)

I mean, I certainly should have been banned long ago. but for having a character named BiteMeSteam which i deleted less than 5 minutes later? humorous, dont you think?

Now, since i will be posting less and less until i just stop, some things to know:
1.I will not be coming back here under a fake identity. It's a forum, i care about it less than i care aobut this game. It's not worth my time.

2.I will not be revealing which of the three servers I'll be playing on (i've mentioned both staying on Apoline and moving to Bijou in this post. Those are just to throw you off. I'm really moving back to Teva)

3. When i do play,i filter out all non party/guild/whisper chats. fiesta's community is stupid at best, mentally handicapped at worse.

4. For what it's worth, inspite of the way the majority of the community acts, most of you fiesta fans were genuinely fun to chat to in game, I'm glad i got to meet some of you guys in game.

And now, I'm glad I'm on Teva and don't have any interaction with GMs whatsoever. o_o

Sensible way would be to PM him in game or via forums. But I don't think he'll move your stuff from Apoline to Teva though. D:

I'm not really. i already have 4 names that are all rather clever names that aren't in any way related to any of the names i've created in the past so they cant be traced back to me. Whether they are available on Teva or Apoline or not will determine if i move to Bijou

Yeah, I would suggest getting away from him. He's a nazi and the worst part is he takes pride in his reputation as a nazi.

If i ever get motivated enough to try to create a GM console or i ever contact any of my more pro hacker buds who could create a GM console, I'll move you.

OFFTOPIC: My one encounter with Dakkon is him signing Let The Bodies Hit The Floor while spawning thousand of zombies while walking(not running) through eldrine.

ONTOPIC: Well, it really sucks that you have to move under a different name just because you wanted to get to know a GM. You know what they say, Life isn't fair. I call that bullshit and say Life is what you make it. If you see me on any of the servers you've mentioned(I believe you mentioned all of them ^^) whisper me! Do it, you know you want to.

OFFTOPIC: Just watched the movie Ghost Rider, it was horrible.

Oh, i will definitely hit you up if i see you. And yes, ghost rider is a terrible movie.

Hmm.... i actually have never seen any of the GMs, but i think i should aviod Steam...

Well, KY... You probably got banned because when you were saying how you scammed the gold bots to get silver to create panties, and he read that on here and warned you, and he probably should have done something about it then but let you off the hook, but when you started harassing him (Even if it were joking, if you haven't noticed he can't really take a joke unless its him doing it on another) he probably got pissed and banned you for it.

Steam -can- touch you on Teva, he's Kaalan on there and still has his GM account and still seems to actively visit Teva.

I never had a high opinion of the GMs, but from your story I don't think they've been given enough voiceto make a judgement.

Mmm i could tell you some stories about Steam\Kalaan that would make your skin crawl. Infact I could log into a account *not mines but O-mie prolly has a good idea of what im talking about* an screenshot some stuff for you. My opinion of the Fiesta gms went down the tubes after my move to Apoline. An broken weapons started magically unbreaking themselves.

o.o I'm neutral. I've never really had a negative situation with the GMs. But yeah, like O-mie said.. It might have been a time bomb ticking with him. You've mentioned things against ToS and hinted that you use them, and he does read our threads, but he hasn't really done anything about it, you're lucky he didn't ban you then. Perhaps he was having a bad day? Maybe he has a different sence of humor than you? We dunno. But I'm sorry dude. Hope you have better luck on Bijou. Behave! ~_^
And yeah.. Steam=Kaalan, you can run, but you can't hide o.o O-mie and I should know lol.

He has a sense of humor but its very dry, lol =x And hard to interpret, but yeah, he's the kind of person that if you challenge his ego, he's going to lash out at you.

Dakkon is the best i challenged him to a game of hide and seek but quickly became dissapointed as he repeatadly made me respawn in town lol, then appearing by my side and finding me :D but ohwell i got a buff out of it =]

oh lawd, and the e-drama continues.

I create a spoof account for every game i play, incase just such an event as this happens. It allows me to quickly switch to my spoof account to readu over the tos and eula and possibly question the powers that be.

I did just that with my spoof account and it was quickly banned without receiving a reply. Or so i thought. I received this email today:

O'rly now? unapproved 3rd party program use? on an account that i never once went in game with? how does one figure that?

maybe its because KY_Jelly was using unapproved 3rd party programs. you know, such malicious content as the Logitech keyboard profiler that came as an accesory to my driver.

all G15 users beware. infact all Logitech mouse and keyboard owners, throw away your hacking devices immediately.

I never used a macro program, although I've toyed with the idea of writing a quick auto attack and auto pickup farm macro for ACTools, but i didn't get banned for "intent to use unapproved 3rd party programs" so i dont see how thats at all relevant. Hell, i haven't even used keylay to rebind left and right shifts to better accomodate that i normally use right shift and control instead of left shift and control.

In other words, banned because its easier than dealing with the fact Steam is a total fucking idiot and abuses his power without a care in the world.

If that's the case, why don't you email somebody on their staff and try to get things resolved?

They might not be able to block your ISP number, so this is their attempt to keep you off.

I suggest you move on from the Panties, Pantless, and Lube themed names. You're notorious for it, so they'll know its you.

I contacted DSChang shortly after my initial banning. I'll likely attempt to get a hold of him again after this garbage. Banning an account that NEVER logged into the game for 3rd party programs is just being stupid. at least try to find a reason for banning me.

i already have. I have my roommate camping the only non panties name i want to keep on Bijou and James (prada) camping it on Apoline (it's forever locked up with the banning of KYJelly on Teva).

I'm really just ready to move on and get back to playing this game, but its a bit tough when you are getting banned for impossible reasons.

Yea Ky if you really want to play Fiesta that bad. Just make a new account an randomize it. I mean cause if Kaalan really has it out for you he will get you everytime. Just avoid him and have no contact with him AND if he bothers you report him for harassment nothing will prolly be done but at least you tried.

I also suggest never saying "Dakkon > Kaalan" again XD Infact, avoid talking to GMs in general now o.o you're a man on the run now.

But hrmmm if you need leverage on him I have screenies and thats why he doesnt bother me anymore ^_^.:D

I already did. I left his server, I've created a whole new character with a never before used name (by me at least).

true that. I learned my lesson about declaring who the better GM is in game.

although it's true, and I believe that's at least a small part of the reason steam took action in the first place. Dakkon is much more well liked and the player-GM relation is a lot better on the Teva server than on the Apoline server.

hmm yeah well, u said u've never had contact with Steam, and the first thing you said was to compare him with Dakkon... i think his reaction is normal...

1) Your name was changed because it was determined, by Murdock, to be against the Terms of Service. This was not an arbitrary decision.
2) Dakkon did not tell me to change your name, I made that choice with input from our CSR lead. Dakkon told me, name him after some sort of Jelly brand. So I did. He gave me the name.
3) You proceeded to delete the character, and remake it, thereby avoiding the punitive measure that was taken against you, as well as going far enough to create other names in violation of the ToS. This was then discussed with our CSR lead, who then informed me to ban your account permanantly, as well as any further accounts you had created.
4) You recieved the wrong message, your Pantiesrox account should have recieved the Innappropriate User ID TSR, I will see to it that you recieve the correct one.
5) When I warped to you, in general chat, you were warned your name was against the ToS, you chose to argue, so you were kicked and it was changed.

No. you'd know its not me because he was a mage (ew) I dont use mages. I barely even use them to farm.

I was really hoping you'd post in here.

1) You never mentioned Murdock at all. You never mentioned anyone before the fact. and after you changed my name you only mentioned Dakkon.

2) Lol. Looking back on it, the name was mildly humorous (mostly because of the fact it was still some kind of jelly). Still asking me what my name should be, or possibly even warning me before hand would have been nice.

3) You'll excuse me if i still don't understand how my namy is in violation of ToS. and if it is, how come it wasn't changed way back in Closed Beta. 20+ levels on closed beta, 25+ levels on Teva server in Open Beta, and 23 levels on Apoline server. And i know i haven't gone unnoticed (remember you warning me about scamming gold farmers?) no action was taken then but its taken now? seems ludicrous to me. As far as the other names, I won't argue that one. I did act childishly. Its just once again, why wait over an hour to ban me for that offense? why not just ban me right after i did it?

4) Just got the right one. that does help that you at least banned the account with some sort of valid reason (albeit a BS one in my opinion)

5) you never said anything in general chat. you warped to me, i made mention of you disliking my comment because you were "mean mugging" me then i was disconnected. no chat bubble over your head the whole time, i know, i was waiting for a reply.

really, the oddest part about all of this was I was originally trying to get your attention so i could get you to pass along a message to DSChang. when I was banned and i attempted to get a hold of him through another contact, my message was finally passed along. so in the end, my "dakkon>kalaan" statement fufilled its purpose. Be careful what you wish for i guess, huh?

I agree with KY that it might have been better to ask him what name he'd like it changed to. If I remember correctly, another member who had a name similar to Marijuana had her name changed, but the GM asked her what she'd like it changed to, and then changed it.

Also that does seem a bit on the overkill side for banning, maybe a temp ban but yipes lol

I agree with O-mie that a ban was way over the top.
i dont know exactly what happened since i wasnt there but i say just a name change and no ban at all.
To me that punishment just sounds cruel and unusual.
