Ok so, was in Eld and my char just randomly started running in a line all by herself, over everything in Eld and then outside the map...into blue...then she fell down a lot til the city was no longer visible. And when I tried relogging, she's standing in blue, with no sign of any map D:

See screenies:

After relogging:

Blarghhh now I'm getting errors when I try to log in </3

After trying to relog again:

*spins*

Able to log in again, my char showed up in Roumen.

xD

Yeah glitches like that happen every now and then. I think my sister said that as long as you don't try jumping, then you shouldn't end up in Roumen. But I'm not sure.

I have also found that if you do the running thing, if you dont ty jumping or running and you activate your mover - it drops you back off in the same town you were in.

Eliayth 04-10-2009 03:10 AM

Thanks, I'll have to keep that jumping thing in mind xD

pigspark 04-10-2009 08:59 AM

Sparkeh 04-11-2009 02:02 PM

pigspark, Please Don't spam! Post some tip for her. D<

Um...back on topic..try not to jump before u warp to another map when u fly...that glitch will happen when u reach the floor

Warning_Shot 04-11-2009 04:29 PM

That wasn't spam, Sparky.

It was a comment relevent to the thread.

Sparkeh 04-11-2009 06:11 PM

I've got the same glitch :-(

This just happened to one of my characters last night during the Angels/Demons event in Elderine.

Now everytime I try to log in with that character, she's stuck in the sky, too. XD

Unfortunately, that character has no return scrolls on her and at someone's suggestion, I tried jumping (but everytime I do, I just get stuck in that position).

I'm going to try enabling my mover the next time I log on (later today) to see if it helps, but if not, any other suggestions are welcome!

Concerning runaways

If at any point during your runaway you press a directional key, your character stops immediately.

If you do this over inaccessible locations, you may not exit; if you do this over inaccessible objects, you are stuck. However, you will spawn somewhere near it when you relog.

If fail to stop your character from going all the way to the edge, ie. too far from the accessible region of the map (because you were afk, say) then you may have to relog twice to spawn properly, in Roumen.

Counter-measure: the only thing I know of to prevent this is to set up a vendor. A character in vendor mode will never undertake a runaway trip. Resting does not work. Mushroom will end up in a corner.

Trivia: you always move in the south-west direction. If you are in resting mode, your character will get up and move. If you're in vendor mode, and a runaway is triggered, upon closing the vendor you will find your character stuck in running motion - simply click on another vendor to resolve the problem.

lulz. Sparky telling someone else not to spam?

I didn't know that's how that running in place glitch got started. I love Icy's avatar with that glitch

I tried this early on when my character started running and unfortunately, it didn't make a difference - it kept running. :-(

Now everytime I relog (I've tried at least four times so far) I automatically respawn in the same place (the sky, off-map - similar to the original poster). Hope the "mover trick" works... :cries:

Try jumping. Also, the spot of doom seems to linger in every session, so if you return to the map without closing the client, you should still find it near where it hit your character.

Weird, I thought I mentioned in my initial post that I tried jumping, but I end up stuck there in the sky (similar to the original poster's 6th screenshot).

Not sure what you mean by "returning to the map", though - as far as I could see, I was "off map" somehow (it says it's loading Elderine but once I'm in, it's just blue all around me and the map in the upper right hand corner is all black - again, similar to the original poster's problem). Also, I'm not sure what you're saying I will find "near where it hit my character" - do you mean: "the spot of doom", the "map" or the "client"? It's not very clear from your last sentence what "it" is referring to... :-)

I'll try logging in again today to see if it boots me to Roumen like it did the original poster and failing that, the "mover trick". :arg:

Thanks again!
J

Basically, you need to stop your character while it's still moving on the map. The poor cleric pictured in the series of screenshots did not do so, and ended up 'standing' on nothing. Once the character is floating this way, if you jump, they will fall through because there is no floor to fall onto.

By 'returning' I mean performing re-login twice: once to return to an empty map, twice to return to Roumen. Then you'll travel to Elderine. Then, you'll move your character to the very same spot they were standing on, where they started to move off. Tap the directions in the vicinity and you should find your character moving off again.

This spot of doom I am referring to is a certain location on the map that is about the size of a mushroom house, on which your character will spontaneously travel in the south-west direction on top of all objects along the way. If you move your character into that spot, they will start to move. If you then promptly move your character, they will return to their static position, but your character will always veer off on their own if you move them there. This spot will change every time you restart the client, and appears to drift slowly even when you're next to it and messing with it.

If you look at my images, I opened a vendor next to a spot that I discovered; a while later, I checked on it, and lo and behold Fission was struck.

By the way, once the character is at the edge of the map, there is no returning. You're guaranteed a twice-respawn off to Roumen.

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to clarify, Icy! I swear, these bugs/glitches are a work of art - taking on a life of their own!

Yeah, Runaways happen when you click off of fiesta and onto a different window, Usually.

Just keep Fiesta fullscreen of in it's smallest state of you are doing something else, It usually prevents it.

Sparkeh 04-13-2009 01:10 PM

Icy post alot of words. >.>
