Well, It Happened

Now, I know there are a lot of people who live with this all the time. However, in all of my 31 years, it has actually snowed more than 1/4 of an inch maybe 3 times. I am not out there playing in it. But, meh - it was pretty. I just need it to be gone by tomorrow morning.

But, here is what I woke up to.

Gonna try to get my dogs out in it now. And get some pictures of them. They have never seen snow.

Lirange 03-01-2009 02:51 PM

Ooh, i would really like to see your dogs picture in the snow;D
Take a family picture of all your pets :laugh:
I love the area you live in. Lots of trees and plants.

Spirit 03-01-2009 02:56 PM

I live in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by pastures - literally. My dogs are currently curled up under some blankets that just came out of the dryer. I think I shall let them enjoy those for a while, lol. It is still coming down really hard out there.

Warning_Shot 03-01-2009 03:18 PM

And here I thought that in March, the snow would stop. >.>

We're getting a good amount here in Massachussetts too.

Lady-Loki 03-01-2009 03:31 PM

Yeah, we got it too (of course, that's to be expected since we live just a few miles apart - lol):

So many shades of GRAY!

(EDIT: picture comparison makes me even more sad that my camera like Spirit's quit working & my replacement is apparently sub-par.)

MikeyG 03-01-2009 06:34 PM

times that by 7538975 u got what weve had this winter LOL, and we dont usually see alot of snow.

Its pretty and nice for the first day or two. Then
once its wet and melting everywhere and flooding the streets
and becomes slush its just plain annoying.

Spirit 03-01-2009 06:44 PM

It is already melting and almost completely gone now.

And yeah, we normally get Zero snow. So, when it does snow, it is a big deal.

My son absolutely loved it.

A_Forever 03-01-2009 06:49 PM

I miss snow.

Yeah must be super exciting for the children where you live.

Lirange 03-01-2009 06:55 PM

It snowed for us a few days ago too.
But its normal for us.
During the really cold winters, when the house is cold, my dog would stay in the bathroom right next to the air vent.

cillia 03-01-2009 07:23 PM

once again...

STOP RAINING AND SNOW!!!!! TT___TT

Lady-Loki 03-01-2009 07:29 PM

Okay, maybe I blamed the camera too quickly. I changed it to the "Auto" setting and let the camera decide how best to set itself and took them again.

I quoted and added the new to the original post for comparison.

Lirange 03-01-2009 07:34 PM

was it snowing when you retook the pictures?

Lady-Loki 03-01-2009 07:39 PM

No, but the snow the first time was not the problem.

It was not that gray outside either time. In fact it was rather bright outside both times. And the snow falling was not really that heavy either.

I had the camera set for pictures of people. I changed it to automatic & let the camera set itself.

Lirange 03-01-2009 07:53 PM

Ooooh

Spirit 03-01-2009 08:53 PM

I didn't notice the huge difference in clarity until you retook them. Major difference though. I always set me camera on auto. I figure it knows more than me when it comes to pictures.

Hessah 03-01-2009 10:26 PM

WAOH...... that looks cool~ and it's surprising how much the Auto setting does..

I think i need to find that button on my camera too...

In the 3rd picture in loki's post.. wats that on the ground that's only partly covered in snow?

That is a slate rock patio that my dad built. The rock absorbs the heat, so just like on the roads, the snow would not stick to the rocks.

Hessah 03-01-2009 10:54 PM

Ohhh icc

I really like that last "new" photo of loki's house.. there's something dreamy about that photo keke

Lady-Loki 03-01-2009 11:19 PM

Thanks Hessah, it is a pretty good place to live. We are semi-rural, but close enough to get to stores in 10 minutes or so.

We moved here in 1985 and this area has been pretty free of issues other than the annual toilet paper rollings of other peoples yards and the always present kids playing mailbox baseball.

It's not a big fancy house and it has the tiny bathrooms and tiny closets that so many houses built in the early 60's had, but the location is hard to beat (not saying it can't be beat, because it can, it would just be hard to beat).

One thing we love is that we don't have neighbors twenty feet outside our door. In that picture of my house the distant house you see is the closest neighbor on that side and there is a lake between us. On the other side, look at the first picture - the structures in the distant are our pool deck and the canopy on the tower of our jungle-gym swing set and the neighbor on that side is further from those structures than my house is. And there are two houses across the street, but no issues with them other than the kids in one house tend to gather around midnight on Friday nights and have those bass speakers that thump, but they generally spend an hour thumping & then go inside.

Hessah 03-01-2009 11:31 PM

How nice! sounds like a nice relaxing community~

Yosei 03-02-2009 01:42 AM

Oh wow Spirit, your yard is pretty o:

And Loki, your house looks JUST LIKE my friends house O_O Seriously, its freaky how similar they look.

Hyper 03-02-2009 02:05 AM

I had trouble chiseling off all the ice on my car.

Snow sucks, trust me.

EDIT: It looks nice and all, but it's bad when the chick next door almost rams in to you while backing out of the driveway.

A_Forever 03-02-2009 02:10 AM

Pshaw.

I love snow. I love shoveling it with my brother(s).. even thought hey hate it. I love scraping ice off the cars or watching my brother(s)/dad do it.

I love winter. I miss Michigan D:

I've only been to the snow once in my life.

Hessah 03-02-2009 08:57 AM

Says the criminals.

It's snowed twice in this area in my lifetime, once about 25 years ago and once a month or so ago (I had to post about it, too). It all melted off when the sun came up.

Other than that, I've only seen snow one other time, when I was in Ohio. This was the "snowed for days" type snow that made me glad we don't normally have it. Ice on roads is scary stuff.

a.L 03-02-2009 09:43 AM

The mainland is higher up in social status. :D
