Another Cleric Rant

So I was in Mara kq, and it was going fine till the bosses, our tank left or something, so i decided to try and tank, so i told the clerics, etc.

Level 22 cleric in my party, he wants to tank too, he gets one shotted by the aoe, and he wants to TANK. What. The. Hell.

Then after it becomes CLEAR that i am holding aggro (while i am stoning and potting since no heals) he stands back, and sits down. Literally, sits down. I realize there is another post on failing clerics, i felt like i needed my own rant space O<

BTW I get really bishy when people don't do their job, as shown in the screeny -blush-

Dw I rage too. It takes a little to get used to the lower level KQs - you get to meet people with no logic! LOL. Sigh, that guy isn't gonna grow up to be a good cleric.

Wow, it looks like you failed in the middle of the KQ, usually I fail at the END of the Mara KQ... Wow, that guy is fail.

Kick him from party or re group with out him. Get someone else to heal you or stone/pot it all.

I used to care if someone didnt do their job. Now just drop them and move on...No time to get mad.

from the looks of it... that guy was probably the only cleric...

Then try to stone and pot it all the way or suicide and try to catch another KQ.

They should have some kind of quest or tutorial that tests your skills before you can join KQs. So at least they can have some idea of what it means to be in a party.

I 2nd that... they really need a "Do you know what your class does?" test, and a quest that makes them learn about healing party members...

(Similarily.. a kick/mock test for new fighters; a "how to stay far away and kill" test for mage/archers)

when i had first heard about job changes i thought they would be different for different classes... like fighters had to do.. like what they do in 60 job change
clerics had to heal a party taking dmg and if they died to many times you fail
if you a mage or an archer idk... XD

LOL. Reminds me of that chat we had in MD:

Me: We should really have a test for people like these before they join KQs. They should be kicked out if they fail it. For clerics it'd be like this:

Your party is dying! What do you do?

A) Afk
B) Heal them
C) Tank the boss and forget about your party
D) Be an archer/mage and lure everything, later blaming the fighters for not taking aggro.

IF YOU PICKED A, C, OR D, YOU FAIL! CONGRADULATIONS! :D

many good clerics, have to ask their friend to do it for em....
lmao For me, even though an xpert... still got 1 fail before sucess...
so close i could have got it the first time....
was using the laptop instead of my desktop ^^

Haha this is funny. Healing is a tough job, and most people play clerics to heal themselves as of late, instead of the party. It's a balance, and there should be some sort of walk through to help clueless players make he best of their clerics. Each player I did Mara with, I made my own pots and had stones, so I ran through there like nobody's business. Give an alt some potion/scroll skills and life will be much easier from 10~30.

OT: but that's one giant signature


I guess what Cleric's need most is common-sense.

When to attack, when to sit-back and heal. Prioritize who's going to get hammered and know when to use which skill. Doesn't take much else.

Some people out there take that like it's a task to land on the moon or something!

I failed class up 100 times as lvl 60 cleric :P
(on purpose for the title :P)

I'm dreading my level 60 job change D: I'm pure support, I do like no damage. They should have made it so clerics could heal the npcs.

lol I know the feeling, my 2 clerics are almost lvl 60 and both are support clerics >.< this is gonna be fun taking that job change

You could always try for the KQ titles anyway~

Yosei... with +9 mace, you definitely can pass it the 1st or 2nd try...
just spam heal and rejunvenile.... and use tab to hit mobs...

If I could do it, you could too so no worries LOL.

when i did my job change i was pure END(which i still am ^^; ) and i passed the 1st two tests easily ( with a +0 hammer with only end stats on it)

only problem i had was keeping aggro x.x roumen and elderine both were on the brink of death the whole time Dx

i managed :P and when i got pala one of my friends shouted "cillia just got paladin????? omg big thing in history im taking a ss" (i had been 5x for like half a year ._.)

:S not anyone can play a cleric. you have to know what your doing/getting yourself into when making a cleric as your class. if you wanna be a tank,make a fighter. if you wanna be a DD, make a mage, archer, or some dd build for a fighter. if you want to HEAL people, choose cleric...

^ yeah. It makes me laugh when people want to pwn as a cleric. This mage in abyss once nova'd me and my party, so we went and killed him in no time. He then made threats about getting his main and pwning us all. I thought he was gonna get an 8x fighter or something, but...


HE CAME BACK AS A 6x CLERIC.


Mind you, I was on my 7x cleric =/ Not sure why he was going on about pwning... besides..............

YOU DON'T PWN AS A CLERIC!!

Even if you're full STR and stocked up on STR EQ's... you still don't "pwn" in a way that you can take a whole party down. You'll survive but not "pwn". Maybe if you have lots of CS stuff.... /shrug

I was there LOL. I killed his cleric with my cleric earlier that day too...Pure end vs almost pure str. Anyways yeah, I made a mage yesterday and I was in mara...They just don't heal. I had to spam stones and pots the entire time....

Don't expect heals till you get to Robo!! Even then, it's rare..

Now that's funny. Yeah I don't see too much Paladin Ownage, just a lot of survival lmfao

indeed clerics own at survival, but suck at killing :P

x.x i need to go back on my teva cleric and sqve some mara kqs.. whenever i join people are always amazed and really nice to me cuz i just spam heal XD

the real disadvantage of a fighter built cleric is no AOE.

BUT ... we kill slow and still heal ourselves ... who else can kill & heal?

Clerics: Loved and Hated
 

I feel your pain. (^_^) When on my cleric I often either get praised or cursed. Often praise comes when a KQ has a few others and I do some healing/revs outside my party. Especially if that party has a cleric that only tanks. Complaints usually come in KQ's where I'm the only cleric, (or maybe 1 other) and everyone expects me to heal them at the same time! Like 4 or 5 fighters all saying "I'll tank, heal me". Umm..I'm only 1 person and can only heal one at a time...

Tell him to~CHANGE.His.FUCKING.Class.

I've had encounters with dumb clerics like that, but not as much as other dumb people. Never had there been a success with them.
