Removal of smilies
 

Could I ask that the original smilies be removed ? I think most people agree that they look slightly retarded D: (not the Honeying/slime ones.. xD)
I mean how does : o = :o
and :D looks kinda fail to me ._.

The : D and : o r dumb to me >< All the other ones r good~ but I use slime/honeying cause theyre just cute :cutielove: I would like it if the [: D] not have teeth >.> and the [: o] is just... wth? XD So I just voted not to change/delete them because the other ones are good :rolleyes: See? XD

Ehh. Its whatever really. They're annoying when they pop up randomly in some serious post though xD

I want the eye roll to be kept... cause some people really deserve it.

Also, if you really don't like them, use something like AdBlock on Firefox and you'll never have to see them again.

You can also disable smilies in your post, or just interrupt the smilie with a code.

For example:

:[COLOR="Black"]D[/COLOR ]

Stops the smilie from showing up (stolen from a.L, LOLOL).

o.o But alot of people would hate to have to go through to change the D font a bit and really the :o is retarted O.o how does it make that face.. doesnt even go with it.

And honestly Firefox fails o.o I prefer to use IE D:

I dont mind the originals that much now. Im happy either way.

But I don't see the need to remove them because they're still being used by some.

Well maybe if it's possible the shortcuts could be removed, so the smilies are still available but not automatically used when you use :D/:o/etc. ?

I think the only way to do that would be per post. Which might get annoying.

It's in your Miscellaneous Options at the bottom.

"Disable smilies in text."

But that even disables the honeying and slime emotes.

When replying to a thread, if you look below the "Submit Reply" button, you have additional options.

Just check "Disable smilies in text"

Then if you type :D, it actually comes out as :D. But, you have to do it with every post that you make, there is not a way to default it.

But, by doing this, when you use :zomg:, it disables the honeying also.

We could change shortcuts to them, but I think there would still be people who like them so we'll probably leave it as default. Cutting the code with the [COLOR] thing is only needed if you have other emotes in the post. Checking Disable Smilies is easier if you don't have any other emotes in it. xD

xD yeah the colour thing is a good idea... I dont like the 'disable smilies' thing because I normally use quick reply D:
