Heh, that's pretty damn funny. It's a shame for them that correlation doesn't equal causation. On the flip side, I'm not entirely sure that the target audience (teenagers) know that correlation doesn't equal causation, so it is a bit of a wash in that regard.

My friends draw on me when I have a little too much to drink. One time, my friends used those glow in the dark markers while I was passed out. I couldnt see the ink in the light, but as soon as I was in the dark, I noticed there were "pictures" of things on my face. D:

Its an awesome commercial.

People have a really blurred view of marijuana.
These videos are passing it off as it kills peoples lives like
crack or meth. They make it seem like it ruins your whole life,
that its so addictive you do anything to do it.

But why does alcholhal and smokes kill 90% more people a year?
Why is it the crack addicts are homeless and not the pot heads?
When has someone killed someone because they smoked a joint...

I personally don't care if someone smokes pot or not. I just wanted to share this commercial with everyone because it made me laugh and I thought it might make some other people laugh/chuckle.

I did not post it so it would turn into a serious conversation about drug addicts or anything @_@ It was just for a laugh.

One of the major downsides to this commercial is that my tax dollars contributed to it.

I'm hoping that this tax money spent, would reduce your tax money spent elsewhere like Hospital medication when these people lose their mind... maybe that's one way of looking at it?

It all boils down to it being government propaganda which doesn't work. We had our little Drug War. Drugs won. The drug prohibition movement just isn't effective, much like the alcohol prohibition movement wasn't effective.

I almost agree with some of the message Above the Influence is trying to make. I don't think someone should base their choices on peer pressure. The name of the group itself is a bit of doublethink. You should be "Above the Influence", except for the influence they hold. "Be an independent thinker, do as we say!" People should be accurately informed of the facts and weigh the pros and cons. These types of commercials only list out cons. They should be promoting responsible usage, like the "If you drink, don't drive" type PSAs. Have a sitter for your first time, don't use if you have respiratory problems, don't drive while under the influence, don't go to a fast-food place because you will order $75 worth of food, etc.

MariJUANA isn't nearly as bad as other drugs. Honestly, a LOT of the things they told us in health class about it was bullshit. I kid you not, at least half of my school smokes (about 75%+ of people in my grade), and only like one kid is really failing out because of it. A majority of people who smoke have straight-A's, since it apparently makes you more content when doing homework.

There's also a huge acid problem, which is just stupid. That stuff is fucked up. So is salvia, but like one kid does that.

I can't even believe pot is classified as a Schedule 1 drug. Seriously? It's ridiculous how harmful people perceive it as, partially thanks to our government.

Nah, I've done acid 5+ times and I'm not insane. It's certainly a different kind of experience. Not that I'm advocating doing anything illegal, make sure you trust your dealer (so that you're not getting bad product) and you have a sitter with you.

I think it comes down to an individual's personality. Some people get addicted to things like MMOs or TV or cigarettes or sex. If someone is apt to become addicted to something, they will find something to be addicted to. Because apparently it isn't addiction if you're taking Paxil twice a day, but heaven forbid you wake and bake and smoke a bowl in the evening. And I don't even like weed.
