How hard would it be?

I was thinking, and I would like to know how hard it would be exactly to grind solo as a cleric up to 50+ level. Mainly because I've tried some KQ's as my level 23 Cleric, and as the only cleric to keep the tank alive, 8 people got in the AoE range of Mara and died and took it upon themselves to scream "REVREVREVREVHURRYREVREVREV!!11oNE!!". I really, really hate that so much, it is so annoying to me. I can't group with random people either, they either call me a noob for not attacking (I'm too busy healing them) and I get kicked out of the group, or they only want me to heal them so they can kill 'X' mob for 'X' quest and whenever I tell them what I need for my quests they ignore me, or other random/rude things. I don't exactly like solo grinding, but if that is how I will have to level, then so be it. So, anyone know exactly how hard/tedious it would be to grind my way up from level 23 soloing? Thanks!

... I have solo'd a cleric up to 43... but I am a full STR cleric so I kill a little faster than someone who was a made to party (END/SPR builds). I find it tedious to solo regardless of class but it took me about 2-3 weeks on and off from my main to get there. Trust me, by the time you get out of your 20s there will be better people around to part with. And if you're a really good cleric, people will party with you naturally. Remember that you hold the party's life in your hands... if they are being rude you have a choice of find another group of people who will help you as well.

They have made the game fairly easy for the low levels. You should not have any problem grinding your way up to around 40-45 solo. I did on my cleric, back before they changed they quests and made everything so much easier.

However, the thing to realize here is that this game is filled with a bunch of idiots. You are going to have to learn to ignore the idiots when they scream at you. A lot of people seem to think that clerics are only there to be their slave. But, you will find some that cherish you. Keep those on your friends list.

Try working your quest first, then help the party get theirs. Don't leave after your quest is up, otherwise you are the same as them.

You may kill slower soloing, but you have an advantage over the rest of the classes, because you van heal thine-self.

as far as KQs go, do not stay out of them, because the lower level KQs give you decent experience and help you level. Just heal your party and remember that you are only 1 person and you can only do so much. If they do not feel like you are good enough for them, chances are, they are not good enough for you. Just keep healing/reviving your party and if you get to the others that ignorantly got themselves killed, then yay, if not, oh well, they should have been in your party.

Heh, thanks for the replys. I'm glad that it's not just me doing something wrong whenever people get pissed at me because they died. I am a full END cleric, because I made him a long time ago with some friends, and I was going to be a clank for them. Do you know of any good spots to solo as a lvl 23 cleric? I've been in the Moonlight Tomb(? I forget what it was called ... was off of Elderine.)
I've heard the Abyss is good but ... as I am just returning to the game, I have no idea what in the world that is!

Loveless 01-11-2009 08:27 PM

Moonlight Tomb would be a nice place to solo grind. If you'd like to solo look for orange mobs. Take the time to look for str rings and you should be okay will killing.

The Abyss entrances are behind the Item Merchant Nina in Eld. There's a guard there that'll warp you. The Abyss has better exp and drops and the mobs are weaker but you can be killed in there by other players and lose exp from it. It's a risk you will have to take for higher rewards. The 2x/3x (not sure about 4x) Abyss areas are notorious for PK'ers just because they can.

Azarion 01-11-2009 08:38 PM

Eeeew, that doesn't sound like much fun. Is there a rule against grey-ganking or if you are fighting a mob? Or is it just FFA?

Loveless 01-11-2009 08:47 PM

There is no set rule unfortunately... but if you feel that they are being extremely rude and/or is harassing you a point you can report them.

The abyss is still by far the best place to get exp fast so if you'd like to go in... I would suggest that you at least go in with one other person. It is also a main source of income for a lot of lower levels... and up until the 60 abyss. So try it out and see how things go. :3

Azarion 01-11-2009 09:43 PM

Thanks, I tried it out and I loved it lol. Amazing xp, good drops, only 1 person has attacked me so far and I just casted invincible and started hitting him and he ran away ... The stuff doesn't hit hard with scrolls and cleric buff (asking for it politely of course) I can take more than 6 mobs at a time. Thanks again!

With people getting killed by Mara/Marlone AOE.... they're they one at fault.. so don't get too upset by them.. you cant look after their lives if they don't look after their own... (how is a cleric suppose to heal anyone that gets 1HKO?)

Most people of other classes have never played a cleric before, they don't know that heal has a 3 sec (or 2.1sec) cool down, and revive has a 30 sec cool down...

So just do your best with your limitations, and anyone that harrass you can get last heal / revive LOL!!!

If you can land your hands on a +9 hammer (maybe after level 30) it would help with the grinding A LOT.. empower Bash... Although I have a duo partner most times, I did enjoy Soloing until level 60... (actually i didnt have a +9 hammer till lvl 50, so maybe you don't need one so soon)

Working on a lic also help take the mind off the boring "grind" (the % of a lic goes up faster than your exp % so it's more fun)

btw my built was END/SPR, but I did use cash shop costume for extra crits which helped too...

This was my experience before Abyss was around... so yeah =D

Azarion 01-11-2009 10:27 PM

Well, since im not completely loaded with cash IRL, and cant afford 3/4 stacks of red and blue eyes, how much silver/gold would a +9 lv 40/50+ hammer cost me? Or would I have better luck trying to get one without cash shop items?

Hessah 01-11-2009 10:39 PM

Hmm i'm not on Apoline.. but on Teva a +9 level 40/50 was about.. 2-4g?

Are you much of a production person?

I think I made most of my money from scroll production... though it was hard to start..

I think I had lotsa HP/SP pots to sell to make money too, coz clerics rarely use them... I used SP stones and just heal myself...

Azarion 01-11-2009 11:10 PM

Yeah, I do tons of production skills. I've been making money by selling Lix and Xir mostly, I can make 100S a day sometimes.

Not much, but it's enough to be able to afford my equipment/skills and goodies

EdwardWarlock 01-12-2009 12:18 AM

Well, since you play on the same sever I do, hit me up. I always have a bunch of cleric drops for some odd reason and clerics and mages can run through the game like veterans if played right. You'll definitely meet better players around 30 or so and won't start screaming in KQs until you do your 1st few Robo's.

Loveless 01-12-2009 12:53 AM

In the long run... if you save up enough money it's much cheaper to just buy already enhanced weapon (and resell after you're done) than to make your own. So keep up the productions and you'll be well on your way.

Not to mention the abyss maps drop a LOT of dusts for you to make stones with. :D

Hessah 01-12-2009 12:58 AM

and then level 40 abyss drops scroll mats *O*

Azarion 01-12-2009 01:26 AM

Thanks, I've managed to pick up a few stacks of Dims ( and 2 levels ) while I was in the Abyss, and I can almost make elrue 2 so I'll save them.

I've also Picked up Slime Jelly (HQ) and (LQ), What's that for exactly?

Hessah 01-12-2009 01:29 AM

they're for T2 and T3 speed scrolls...

very valuable stuff, coz it's a fairly rare drop (not many mobs drop them)

you can find people buying them for probably 1-2s... or save them for urself to make speed scrolls later

Azarion 01-12-2009 01:47 AM

Hmm, okay I'll be sure to save them. Are speed scrolls worth much or just something that people with money buy?

Hessah 01-12-2009 01:56 AM

hmm i'm not too sure.. never bought / sold any myself... (i only have materials to make about 5 for myself to use LOL)

you might need to do some window shopping to check the price =D

Speed scrolls are worth more than any other scroll you can make due to the rareity of mq (t3) and hq (t4) slime. Five slime are needed for each scroll.

They are great for solo grinding, pulling, farming, giuld wars, and getting away from killers in the abyss.

Although the t1 and t2 speed scrolls are helpful is is not till t3 that you can really see a difference. With a t4 spd applied i can run as fast as someone on a pony.

Although I make my own, i have seen t4 spd's selling for 45-50s on teva. I've never tried to sell any at retail because they are in great demand by my guidies who provide me with slime and get them at discount prices.

BTW, hq slime can not be decomped to mq and the recipes are "rare drops".

Azarion 01-12-2009 07:52 PM

Cool, I'll definately save them for later when I start pumping up my scroll production skills. (if I can get enough room in my bank!)

Hessah 01-12-2009 11:44 PM

HAHAHA yes... a producer's biggest problem of all times - space for materials...

You may need to start making character #2, #3, #4 and use their inventory space XD (you know that storage is common for all character in an account right?)
