Those of us on AT&T can call other people on AT&T (landline or cell) without using our minutes.

Also, you can send SMS messages via GoogleTalk (which I leave open in my gmail tab). It's handy to have around if you have friends that like to text. I can't stand texting on standard phones. I need a keyboard, heh.
