Town Beggars

Noob: "please give me some money"
Edward_Warlock: "???"
Noob: "Plz"
Edward_Warlock "Who are you?"
Noob: "money plz silver"
Edward_Warlock: "Wow"
Noob: "i broke my weapon im poor money plz"

What is this? People just come up to you in town begging. What is that all about? I don't trust it. It seems like a hack or something and it's annoying.

Matzy 01-10-2009 05:50 PM

Yea it gets annoying.

Its just that they show their noobness using those freakin "plzzzz" words. Gawd! It annoys me! Really~

But yea, Maybe just ignore them? I never begged on any game I played. Even the time I was so poor? Never.

Oh oh! And this is kinda off-topic. But I just remembered this experience of mine.

Player: Hi. Can you lend me 3g please?
AmuChi: WTF 0_o Ugh who are you?
Player: You`ll know me when we party.
*I declined the party invite*
AmuChi: Sorry I dont know you, What are goin to do with the money?
Player: Im going to buy my GF a level 90 sword.
AmuChi: Are you kidding me? The cap is 89. What the heck is that?
Player: I know, Thought it would be a cool gift.
AmuChi: If you wanna give a gift, Earn the money on your own 0_o

Gawd~ What the heck was that? That was on Elderine btw. And I dont even have that much money. Lolz :uhoh:

Phantom Badger 01-10-2009 07:35 PM

Oh Tell me about it x3 running around to get a tarde request, naturally I open and say '?'
Player: Money plz
Me: Umm, No...
Player: Plzzzzzz i ned moneyz
Me: No, get it yourself
Player then starts to follow me and/or whisper while spamming please, yay for block, but My computer wont take screenies...so yay me...

Yosei 01-10-2009 07:45 PM

I signed on for an hour the other day, first time in awhile. And I kept getting bugged by people who wanted me to gift them stuff <.<

Person: Could I ask you for a favor? :)
Me: uh.. sure?
Person: Could you send me a gift? I'll pay, I promise!
Me: Sorry, I'm broke as a joke.
Person: So.. you have money?
Me: No... that means I have no money.
Person: But you have cash shop items.
Me: I won these.
Person: So could you charge some spark cash?
Me(thinking): Uh... yeah... *signs off*

Phantom Badger 01-10-2009 07:49 PM

Yeah once the premium coupon came out I was by Vietree talking with Pebbles and some other peoples...*coughLeesacough* and kept getting whispered by people asking me to gift them a premium coupon xD

Hessah 01-10-2009 07:53 PM

I had one...

Newb: Can I have 10s for skills plz?
Me: -gives 10s-
(Feeling generous for ONCE, i usually dont give out anything 98% of the times)
Newb:  -so easy- I mean I need 100s
Me: I JUST GAVE YOU MONEY NOW GO AWAY!
Newb: Whatever you say Master.

XD

Miriamele 01-10-2009 08:35 PM

I get a lot of money requests too... +9'd axe (that I'm borrowing) + SC outfit (which was gifted to me) = begging. I usually ignore them or say "no" and the person will be like "okay". I had one curse me out one time for refusing to lend her money. That was interesting... I told her to stfu and make her own money and some other person said "yeah, you go girl! you tell 'em!" Made me laugh.

Lexaeus 01-11-2009 04:24 AM

Wow. I got on a bit today for like a couple of minutes on my cousin's laptop b/c he still plays. I get to Roumen and then some person just comes up to me and asks me for 40s to buy a lvl 50 weapon when it was clear he was only lvl 1-4........... :P He then goes on about this being his alt and that his main was a lvl 52 guy and that he was going to pay me back by sending it via mail.

Do we have mail in this game?

cillia 01-11-2009 05:00 AM

i just normally give them 1s :/ it normally stops their begging. though thats be on bijou, where most people that i know are filthy rich >_O

though ive given someone like 3s before when they begged and they kept begging. i just blocked them. *end of problem* :D

Blaaaaaaaah 01-11-2009 07:03 AM

Wait, you guys respond to these people?!

<-- snobber

a.L 01-11-2009 07:04 AM

I ignore them too.

Loveless 01-11-2009 07:28 AM

Saying "No." works pretty well...

Vasu 01-11-2009 07:29 AM

^ For those who can read it does. ;D

zenna_yu 01-11-2009 08:57 AM

I get tired of these people too. The best policy I think is to block them. Don't even respond just click block and continue with whatever you were doing. I treat them the same as the gold sellers.

Mindspank 01-11-2009 09:36 AM

Ive noticed this trend as well. Before though, like a ytear ago, you MIGHT run into one beggar in like a couple months. Now, I run into beggars a couple times a night. Always asking for money and premium beauty coupons. Just ten minutes ago, before I got disconnected, one guy asked me for my +9 lvl 50 bow. Asked to borrow it for a quest. I looked at him, head to toe in the first archer set, he had like 200hp. --;

Seriously what is up with these people? I used to wish I could make money faster back in the day. But now that i know how to make money, money isnt an issue and if these nub flakes would learn how to make money and dedicate a couple hours to it, they would never need to beg for money.

"Give a noob a silver, and he's gone forever. Teach a noob how to make silver, and it doesnt matter because he will come back asking for more silver."

EdwardWarlock 01-11-2009 12:39 PM

Yeah I tell them to follow to me for the money now....to a FBZ

Other than that, I block them. I hate because I make my money the old fashioned way....grinding the abyss and completing quests. I try not waste time opening a store because I only sell items that I think will sell, not garbage drops that I find that I know a avid player really doesn't want. Beggars shall always die or be blocked!

mavricgabriel 01-11-2009 12:45 PM

BLOCK helps:laugh:

We cant really know if these players are cons or noobs. I dont give anything to anyone if they're arent even trying to provide for themselves.

nekoneko 01-11-2009 03:38 PM

i agree, i dislike seeing or hearing people begging for money, as soon as someone starts asking me for it, they hit my block list pretty fast.

Hyper 01-11-2009 04:10 PM

That's happened ever since the dreaded Open Beta.

That's my point exactly. A number of my friends have had their accounts hacked or worse from bogus whispers and people begging. It's so annoying! :arg:

Tamashiiryuu 01-12-2009 12:29 AM

hehehe
i had my share of beggers
I die in a kq and im worped to Roumen. So i go afk for 5 minutes leaving my char. in sit and when i get back i find a lvl 1 cleric giving me a lapdanse asking for money ><
I just laugh and tell her(?) that im broke so she leaves and does the same thing to someone else

Venicia 01-12-2009 02:48 AM

A couple of days ago an archer ran up to me and started to whisper-beg me.

A: I need a pet
A: for free
Me: I certainly don't give out free stuff to strangers...

i really wanted to know what he replied to that, but I "Accidently" blocked him.

Spirit 01-12-2009 02:56 AM

I have given pets away before. But, they never asked me for one.

They would ask me about them and how to get them and after they start to leave, I would then proceed to give them one. done that about 4 times. But, meh, I gots lots of pets, lol. And I remember how badly I wanted one when I started out playing.

I paid a guildie like 20silvers for my first pet and that was a discounted rate way back then. I turned around and gave it to Loki, lol. Btw - thx JT, :cutielove:.

But, yeah, if people beg, it is annoying. I recently deleted someone off my friends list because everytime I logged in he would whisper me asking me for money.

Xshadow21X 01-12-2009 03:52 AM

Yeah, there was a guy asking me for 10s for new skills when I was on my mage. I told him I only had 7s myself (I gave my mage money to my cleric) and couldn't spare anything and he just kept asking me for money so I just walked away =\

lamchopz 01-12-2009 05:02 AM

they used to ask for 1s.

now they ask for 100s.

last night, a total stranger whispered me asking me to buy him/her a 950s hammer. of course I said no. lol

zenna_yu 01-12-2009 05:28 AM

There was guy in Uraga today that was shouting for someone to help him. He said that he accidentally bought a lvl 70 weapon for 400s and now he was broke. While I can see this possibly happening to a person I think it sounded more like a scam to me.....blocked. Before I blocked him I told him to resell it...lol

Miriamele 01-12-2009 05:32 AM

I had someone today ask me if he could have my lvl 40 shield (which I don't have), a CS gift, and silver, in that order. I swear, the worst is when you're standing either up at Shutian or in front of the blacksmith shop.

Best part is that most of them are all still in acad, so they get money for lvling. Whereas I was never in an acad and never begged for stuff. Funny how that works...

HAHAHAHA

i never stand afk at shutian... esp when i'm a cleric.. you get a line of people asking for a buff too

Blaaaaaaaah 01-12-2009 12:57 PM

I also don't like it when people keeps asking you if you want to sell your equipment repeatedly when you tell them no the first time... it's like, can't you see I'm using it?! @_@!!!

LOL i have had all the above issues and this one is my fav! ie "but i really need it"

EdwardWarlock 01-13-2009 04:00 AM

I was feeling generous today so I gave away some +7 & +6 low level items to some noobs. Then they followed me around for 15 minutes trying to friend me. Ugh. Thank the Teva Gods for monster level aggression. :hulksmash:

Kenryuu 01-13-2009 04:11 AM

A few days ago a girl whispered me and said:

Girl: Todays my birthday
Girl: can you gift me something?
Me: Happy Birthday xD

I ran away after that lol.

Wow that's just retarded.

GentleGiant 01-28-2009 02:30 PM

I have a corollary to this to share.

I grouped in Sand Hill one day with this mage who was about my level. He kept the loot set to Free Allocation, made sure to be on top of the mobs when they died, and looted at least 95% of everything that dropped. Since I'm active in every alchemy skill I was especially annoyed at this. I asked him 3 times to change the loot to Sequential, and even explained how, but he refused to do so. Finally, after nearly 30 minutes of this, I'm just about done with the last of my quest mobs when, lo and behold, a mob which spawned right on top of me and which I killed dropped a very nice piece of mage armor. I'm an archer, this guy's a mage. Please don't ask me how, out of everything I wasn't able to loot, I ended up with this piece of mage armor... but not 3 seconds later he starts spamming me

"Plz give 2 me I need plz"

over and over again.

Never was I so overjoyed to have my internet connection "mysteriously" go out on me while I logged to an alt for a while.

Now, had this individual played fair and set the loot to sequential from the beginning, he'd have had his piece of armor given to him in a trade window, free, no strings attached, right away.

And then this other jerk who grouped with my wife and I:

One day in Marlone's Hideout we were trying to finish up some quests down there and we were grouped with a couple other people. I was on my fighter and my wife on her cleric. At one point during this process we all left together to go back to Elderine to turn-in and get the next quests. While in Elderine, this one guy asked me if he could "borrow" 13s so he could buy a nice staff he saw for sale. I knew right then and there what the real definition of "borrow" was, but since he had been doing his part in the group and wasn't otherwise being a hassle I went ahead and gave him the money. Thinking back I wish I would have asked him where the vendor was so that I could just buy him the staff and give it to him, but oh well.... Anyway, we go back into the Hideout to take out a King Marlone for the final quest. After the King dropped, he dropped a beautiful STR + END fighter ring! The loot allocation was sequential (since it was our group) and the ring went to me - and should have been mine anyway as it was a fighter ring and a considerable upgrade for me. Moments later, who but this same mage, who just got done "borrowing" 13s from me, should start begging me for the ring? When I explained that it was an upgrade and that I won it luck of the draw, he then turned around and offered to BUY it from me! My wife and I looked at each other and at the same time asked out loud "with WHAT silver??" and laughed. We just said we had to go, and that was that.

What's the bottom line? If you're a jerk, don't bother messing with me. I promise you that in the end either I or karma will end up dealing with you accordingly.

koager 01-28-2009 08:26 PM

the ones I find funny are the beggars right outside FoT gate in Roumen
they time that they spent begging me for money can be used to go through that gate, whack a couple mobs, sell the drops, and get whatever amount that they were begging for in less time....

I know D:
I had like 50 people wanting to buy my lv40+9 wand
there was this one guy who kept on wanting to trade me 2 necklaces for it. They were the rare green necklaces that were like a couple gold I think, but 1)necklaces are meh and 2) what am I going to use if I sell it to you D:

EdwardWarlock 01-29-2009 02:00 AM

Haha yeah. Someone wants my armor that I'm wearing. I'm wearing it. Give me a few levels, and then we can cut a deal.

Hessah 01-29-2009 02:22 AM

@ GentleGiant - I'd do exactly what you did LOL

People just keep pushing their luck... and when you give in a little bit, they push for more! Just totally greedy...

Maybe in a way I'm glad that our +9 armours doesn't shine or something, or we'd be chased up and down Elderine with lower than rediculous offers...

CrazyVietFs 01-29-2009 02:36 AM

all +9 shine Hessaah?.... OMG cover up my eye too bright... ^^
yes encounter a lot of these lately, easiest way, *What block often are there for, i also set no party invitation, only if my friends in need then i help them, I'm a soler and pretty damn fast lvling up, ^^

Hessah 01-29-2009 02:41 AM

I feel you on that, that's why my alternates have no friends (fighters and clerics solo just fine). I already know how to do everything, so I don' need extra people bugging me when I sign in to do workarounds.
