Message box weirdness...

So im playing fiesta, grinding for hoes (dont laugh). When out of nowhere this happens:

http://www.fiestafan.com/forums/phot...74/1_gmhax.jpg

Now im not an idiot, but I like to play along with people who do things like this. But what I was wondering was if this was a text box spacing issue being exploited, or is it not even a glitch persay and just some idiot pressing his luck? Ive been away from the game for about 6 months so for a split second I thought it was legit.

Lady-Loki 12-14-2008 01:07 PM

There is a GM named Frank.

I think it's a glitch.

Enraya 12-14-2008 01:11 PM

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I had to laugh xD

Yes there's a GM named Frank, but the name alignment looks kind of wierd ...
I've seen people space out their text and impersonate a GM before, which is kind of what this looks like ...

Also, I can't remember, but don't GM messages show up as a different colour?
One way to try and test this is to drag your message screen wayyyyyy out to the right/left, and see if the message "hops" to somebody's line of text.

Vasu 12-14-2008 01:12 PM

Naah, GMs don't show as a different colour, but their name shows as something like [GM]Frank, and not GM_Frank. It'll be GM_Frank in the forums.

Blaaaaaaaah 12-14-2008 01:16 PM

Pretty sure they're using text spacing. You'll notice that the same person speaks before "GM Frank" makes his message.

Andromeda 12-14-2008 01:17 PM

Thats an Impersonator you can easily tell because all of the Outspark Staff minus the Community Leaders have different colour text ingame when they talk. When staff shout their text is yellow when they talk normally their text is Violet/Dark blue

Mindspank 12-14-2008 01:51 PM

Now heres my next question: Since he realy didnt do anything other then say hi how are you, should that be reported anyways?

I think no cause he was just being an idiot but then again he could have tricked someone good with that.

Icy 12-14-2008 02:37 PM

I think the perpetrator is just joking around.

If someone really wants to, they can make the alignment perfect and use the proper [GM]Name form. There would then be room for malice

I can align them perfectly without using lots of spacing, hence, so can others. Precisely because of this, GMs now have differently colored lines when they talk in public, so that they can't easily be impersonated.

Vasu 12-14-2008 03:45 PM

You mean you can use "[" or "]" in a name?

EdwardWarlock 12-14-2008 04:44 PM

Lol this is so stupid. I hate impersonators. I don't really talk to anybody I don't anyway.

Loveless 12-14-2008 05:02 PM

I don't think it really matters whether you are joking or not. Impersonating a staff member usually gets your butt in jail regardless.

Explain this "jail" to me Loveless. I've heard the term before, but have never seen or experienced it....

Mindspank 12-14-2008 08:48 PM

Your character goes to jail.

What more is there to explain? You dont have big guys trying to solicit you for sex or steal your fruit cocktail, but more or less its the same experience, only in a game.

Hessah 12-14-2008 09:11 PM

Well whether you want to report someone is totally up to you, if you dont think he's really done anything bad, then... ignore it?

Jail is a map where... basically there's nothing in it... if u've done something against the rules... an Outspark staff can put you in that map, and you cant do anything with that character... but to sit there... like a jail...

I think my chat box is set to a non-default size... so all the impersonating chats never lines up for me

Ninja_Medic 12-14-2008 10:51 PM

I've never had a chat box glitch (other than the one whiper glitch wehre u whisp someone and then u whipsed them again and it replaced what u typed with what u typed before))

tis strange,

i've never seen anyone impersonate a GM

apoline must be goody two shoes :D

Mindspank 12-15-2008 01:52 AM

Or the GM's actually care about the older servers.

Apoline and Teva are older servers with players who care about structure...

Epith is too new to get away with anything...

Bijou is like the wild west. Everyone just runs around doing what they want and if you see a GM its because theres an event going on and not because he's laying the ban hammer down. I have made characters on all servers and skillfully maneuvered my way to elderine and by far Bijou has the most gold spammers in Roumen and Elderine. No one cares about Bijou. At this rate soon I expect to see dinosaurs and mini dragons running amock in vie for teritorial dominance over Elderine because its the "Server that Outspark Forgot."

I heard that if you get blocked enough times, you also get sent to jail (rumour, though, I think...). Apparently if you go in, you'll find lots of bots in there. xD

You also get a timer (like those KQ timers) to show when you get out... not sure though. Only seen screenshots. xD

LOL That's funny!

Coz I joined the Raffle event thing a while back, and I've put my name down on all 4 servers... So I was doing a bit of server hopping....

On Teva & Apoline, people would surround the GM, and we get some smartass that are like warring the GM, in the attempt to kill him, he got jailed but somehow managed to escape (O_O) and he was being a smartass about escaping - Smart Noobs

On Epith, the noobs surrounding the GM are spamming "MONEY PLZ MONEY PLZ CAN I GET FREE ITEM" -spam spam spam spam- -Stupid Noobs

On Bijou, from memory, it was relatively peaceful.......

Mindspank 12-15-2008 08:54 AM

It was peaceful because people were elsewhere running their sploits and bots and pretending to be GM's or failing at Robo kingdom quests.
