Next time your cleric gets flamed

so sick of getting flamed for not healing right... i have fully empowered heal... i can usually keep a team of morons alive for a good while... but the occasional death is inevitable with a mage body pulling rooms at a time without t3's...
well i got flamed for not keeping him alive

so after his rant of how horrible my cleric is i reminded him that his xp bar is under my control... life/death is my choice... remember people outside of kq a cleric is the difference between going from 50% to 0 real quick stop yelling at us for your xp greedyness the mobs will come back i promise take it a bit slower

or even worse getting flamed by a clank... for not healing wtf?

Loveless 12-10-2008 06:39 PM

Don't say anything, let them pull again then just leave the party.

LOL there was once in Mara (long time ago) where we only had 1 cleric, who's a bit slow...

10 of the inconsiderate people in the KQ are yelling at her, asking her to heal and rev...

she never said a thing, slowly trying to keep up with the team.. until we hit fake mara/marlone... and people are yelling at her again..

she said "i dont want to be here, i want to leave"

and everybody shut up and coorporated LOL!

but yeah if that happened to me, i'd tell someone else to do the pulling... and for the mage to pot as well... some mage doesnt realise how quickly they die... and well if he doesnt understand that our heal has a 3 second cool down then.... he can go die some more

These days, my patience is really thin. I'd quit that party the moment they yelled at me (not that it's ever happened yet... but who knows).

I often stay with a party that can actually take the mob off me and leave the one which can't do that (of course they never know I leave because of their failure to protect their cleric who's healing them like mad). I partied 2 fighters and 2 mages last night. I almost died three times. No one knew (When I asked if they realised I was being attacked, all of them said "nope"). Well, it was time for goodbye. When I left, one of the mages died. lol

Hessah 12-10-2008 10:05 PM

Cleric is the only class that pays attention to other people's HP...

Now that i've played all 4 classes, the other 3 class generally have too many skills to spam to look after someone else's HP... (eventhough at times it seems dead obvious that the fighter should mock the mobs off me)

lamchopz 12-10-2008 10:27 PM

I guess it's just me and one of my friends then. I talked to her and she said she also paid attention to the cleric's HP.

On my fighter, we partied in BoD with another fighter and a cleric. The cleric was excellent.

While two of us were attacking vampire bats, I noticed the cleric's HP started dropping and, perhaps the most obvious clue is that she stopped healing. I immediately turned the camera angle and saw two prisoners charging at her. I ran down the stairs with a bat on my tail (I'm a STR fighter with low def but enough to take that bat's hits) and mocked those 2 prisoners off her while the other fighter perhaps didn't realise what just happened. As I expected, she immediately healed me (not herself), though I could take on 3 of them by myself (just a lot of stones and pots though...). It was one of the rare occasions I played fighter since I train my cleric more often nowadays. It was nice to have a good party.

How do you assign hotkeys to your skills, Hes? I only have one single bar for active skills (the bar that uses numerical keys) and I can use the skills without looking at the keyboard most of the times (which is why I had a bit more time checking the others' HPs in party).

Hessah 12-10-2008 10:44 PM

yeah that's coz you played a cleric...

i meant for those who hasnt played a cleric, and was playing the other 3 classes, not often do they watch other people's HP (unless they're a good player.. but thats rare to come by nowadays)

I assume u're asking about my cleric?

All the buffs are on the hot key bars without numbers.. since they're rarely spammed...

then from 3 - 10 I have my active skills (heal, restore, bash, -cant remember- invince, cure, hobby [cant get out of the habit], revive)

then with party heal, and rejuv i had to fit it on shift 1 and 2.. coz i ran out of space LOL

Loveless 12-10-2008 10:57 PM

You know everyone has a little red bar on top of their head by default... you'd think they'd notice when it's almost gone.

I have no patience with bad clerics. I was the party leader in GH KQ... the first cleric was just waiting at the gate. -kicks- Second cleric heals 10 seconds after you're dead. -kicks- Third... well gawd damn it go make a fighter... -leaves party and solos- I was using up the same amount of pots and stones anyway. I've played all so I know the limit so if they're being crappy they are being crappy... so make a full END fighter if you want to just stand and take hits.

lamchopz 12-10-2008 11:07 PM

I was talking about my fighter so I asked about your fighter. lol

I added to STR on my fighter because in my early days, I was told to do so by someone who's been playing this game for a long time. I don't use CS so I just went with STR because when I learnt about different types of fighters, my STR was already too high.

and lol @ loveless. when is wabbit coming back?

Hessah 12-10-2008 11:10 PM

oh... yeah all the skills on numerical keys... isnt that like.. normal?

but i do watch my hotkey bar often coz i spam my skills and i watch when my skill cools down...

Loveless 12-10-2008 11:20 PM

I just randomly hit keys... xD Okay, I hit deva, other skills, mock, then repeat... :3 I wish there was a group consented kick a bad player out of KQ option.

Err... I go on wabbit and GG seems to be asleep so I log off, lol. I still can't play Fiesta for another week anyway... and I'm guessing a couple of people may have passed me in my guild so I need to work on my fighter... TAT

CrazyWarriorFs 12-11-2008 12:44 AM

there are not that much people that can play their clerics well these days, most people get powerlvl and when they have to do stuff on their own, they don't know what to do, i miss the old days, when there is no green, or cash shop, you have to go through the hard way, and people appreciate cleric so much, i got 2 clerics lmao, lvl 6x for fun, lvl 5x solo CG and MD clankers, i like clerics though my main is my fighter... it is also sad that there aren't that many capable tanker now a days... i always love fiesta, but it not the same anymore, people changes, economy, etc.... so my goodie have left ...

Miriamele 12-11-2008 07:04 AM

Clerics aren't the only ones who take a look at HP bars of party members. As a fighter in a party, I always a) pan the camera back to see everybody, if possible, b) keep a close eye out on any monsters around, and c) be prepared to click on a spawned monster and kick it if my mock is on CD.

It is hard though, being a cleric and having to deal with players that make themselves meat shields and can't take it. A lot of people are just ignorant about how clerics work and somehow expect you to always be able to avoid deaths. And this is not always possible. Clerics get the shaft the quickest because it's very obvious when something goes wrong on their end. Death almost always provokes the "lol failure cleric" response instead of considering the individual's or even party's shortcomings. It is kind of part of the cleric package, unfortunately.

In any case, I consider pulling too much to be a bad fault. A player should know his limits and act accordingly. Biting off more than you can chew when pulling, in my opinion, is just as bad as a bad cleric not healing where it's needed.

a.L 12-11-2008 07:13 AM

It's funny when a player gets OHKO and blames the cleric for not healing.

Miriamele 12-11-2008 07:47 AM

I know...

MD jumps, a bunch of DD fighters die, and cries inundate the chat box...

"OMFG NUB CLERIC ISNT HEALING"

Almost as bad as an archer going "maybe we'd win if you stop running, useless tank!" when I got feared from MD -_-.

Like I said, clerics are always the first to be blamed. I guess you just have to grow a tough skin and get over it. There will be times where you get insulted, however irrational it might be. But, with a support class, their life is in your hands, and you don't have to play with them if you don't want to.

very well said.

two thumbs up. =]

Deoial 12-12-2008 07:45 PM

when i get on my mage alt i sometimes forget im mage and try to spam heals on people... then i remember my aoe and heal are same number so i just spam aoe instead... then go damn not cleric

i love playing my cleric.. when people flam i just brush it off i know im a damned god cleric might not attack but mot of the time if im partied its a full scale aoe group in an abyss 20 levels higher than me... i end up looking at the ground so stop lag and just paying attention to mini map and group window to time heal, invinc, restore, all my goodies... and usually works out pretty well or they wouldnt invite me again.

an usually the best teams ive gotten into are with my guild, we have fun grind out a level or 2 and just have a damned good time even when we wipe lke 5 times in a row because of bad dc timing, or over pulling, or t3's timing out

OCEAN F0R LIFE WOOT

Miriamele 12-12-2008 08:29 PM

I know, whenever I'm on my cleric, I want to deva, and when I'm on my fighter, I want to heal. D:

I don't put up with bad parties. If I'm a cleric and I'm being a) seriously disrepected, or b) put into a bad situation because my partymates are not doing their jobs, I quit and find a different party. I take constructive criticism but when you pull too much and then call me a nub for not being able to keep up with your HP even though I'm spam healing, I leave. Lol.

Pting with my guildmates is fun though. I don't do it much on my cleric but people know their limits and know how to play. So that's always a good thing. Ocean for life. <3

Loveless 12-12-2008 08:44 PM

I miss partying with you guys... the party/normal chats are hilarious. Just a couple more days until I can do that. :B

On topic though, to choose a cleric and stay as one til end game you will need to develop a thick skin.

a.L 12-13-2008 12:54 AM

I don't think I've ever partied with randoms outside of KQs. :/

But generally feedback has been positive.
