Andromeda 10-31-2008 11:16 PM

God bless Australia <3

No Trick or Treat here but we did get one little girl at our front door yesterday for candy but our dog scared her off xD

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:18 PM

Lucky D:

Hraesvelg 10-31-2008 11:18 PM

No candy? On Halloween? Hope you like eggs and toilet paper...

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:19 PM

>.> Well srry XD Hmm... I think I have a bag of candy from halloween 2 years ago.... I'm sure the bubble gum is harder than rocks by now ._.

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:21 PM

but its good cause i dun answer the door, so they'll just think that I'm not at home not that I'm a selfish halloween party pooper ><

a.L 10-31-2008 11:24 PM

In my entire life, we've only been trick or treated once. Trust my mum to send them off.

"Trick or treat."

"I no inglis, me no undastand."

Andromeda 10-31-2008 11:25 PM

Why you Americans have Trick or Treat will always remain a mystery to me. Honestly if I was the parent of a child going around doing this. I'd be worried about your child getting drugs.

What annoys me though is Trick or Treat is slowly becoming more popular in Australia so if someone comes to my door next year I'll give them something nasty (Not poisonous just nasty)

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:26 PM

Lol XD

a.L 10-31-2008 11:26 PM

Tell 'em to rack off. Usually they don't have any tricks prepared.

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:28 PM

I wud throw a cookie at their head but I'm afraid they'll think I'm giving big cookies for candy and they'll all pile up at my door XD

Andromeda 10-31-2008 11:29 PM

This reminds me of an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. Ray buys some Viagra but that Viagra ends up finding its way into the childrens trick or treat hats/bags because it gets mistaken for candy.

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:29 PM

Haha! :cheeky:

Leesa 10-31-2008 11:40 PM

Must...resist...cookie throwing..

kirbysprite 10-31-2008 11:54 PM

I don't celebrate Halloween, so I don't give out candy...

Watch my egg be housed...

Hraesvelg 10-31-2008 11:56 PM

It's about community, getting to see the neighborhood kids, dressing up, getting out in the yard and a little decorating. It's fun!

Um. Just turn your porch light off? If it is off or you don't have one.. they shouldn't be coming to your door in the first place. Those morons.

I don't trick-or-treat anymore. Have for a few years now, plus its rainy here tonight and I live in a 55+ community LOL There's no kids here xD

And umm.. I don't see most people in my "neighborhood" xD They stay in their houses. No wonder it takes so long to find out they died >.>

Kenryuu 11-01-2008 04:25 AM

Kenryuu 11-01-2008 04:55 AM

so happy for you ^^

Belaslav 11-01-2008 07:08 AM

Big woodcutting axe + ketchup + white hockey mask = instant kid scareaway.

Lady-Loki 11-01-2008 02:23 PM

My only Trick-or-Treat visitor was when Spirit dropped her son off to spend the night and she made him ring the front doorbell and Trick-or-Treat me. He really didn't want to do it but she told him if he didn't I would have no Trick-or-Treat visitors at all and it would make me sad.

Rightclaw 11-01-2008 02:26 PM

:[

I was never allowed to trick or treat because my parents were always afraid of people drugging my candy. I did end up going one year, though, but my parents never found out about it. 0:

Hraesvelg 11-01-2008 08:54 PM

I'd like to see one, actual, documented case of candy tampering.

Edit: By poisoning, I should clarify. I think there have been a few isolated pins and needles type deals, but if one is scared by probabilities that low, I'm surprised if they can get out of bed in the morning lest a tornado form in their toaster.

Blaaaaaaaah 11-02-2008 12:00 AM

To be honest if I was a child I wouldn't want 'em roam around to trick or treat either. Chances may be low but it's not worth the risk to me. If they want candy I will give it to them (not).

But then again I've never been in this halloween tradition so -shrugs-

Ouch.

Does your house float in mid-air by any chance? :cheeky:

Because the worlds all out to get people right?
Halloween is such a fun holiday and its one that is simply about fun.
I LOVED going trick or treating as a kid. And now I still love getting
dressed up and going to a party...

last nights best costume prize was a 60 pounder xD

Hraesvelg 11-02-2008 02:44 AM

The anti-Halloween people remind me of trolls that don't want to come out of their cave. I know a lot of gamers are a bit on the anti-social side, but it's really fun. Since it seems nigh everyone on this forum is obsessed with Asian style animation...think of it as socially-accepted cosplay, in the open air (no traditional cosplayer smell!) AND you get candy! Or drunk, if you happen to be an adult. Or, hell, both!

Belaslav 11-02-2008 03:00 AM

Is that how you celebrate Halloween where you live? :zomg:

Hraesvelg 11-02-2008 04:03 AM

I live in a very rural area, but the my general routine here is I get dressed up (some parents do, some don't...I do) and head to town with my kid, where tons of people walk up and down main street with their kids, going door to door. It's almost a sort of block party/street fair feel to it. Laughing, playing dress-up, getting candy. Then, once it gets a bit later and the kids had gotten a lot of candy, it kind of dies down. Then I'll either drop my son off with his mom or my mom and hit some adult parties, where the adults are dressed up and drinking and having a good time. Halloween is the only holiday I really like. Well, aside from Mardi Gras.

Hessah 11-02-2008 04:33 AM

Sounds like Hrae lives in a very close knitted community...

I dont even know the people 3 houses away from my home so... its a bit hard to trust even just the street... unfortunately...

and since australia has never had halloween... all the halloween stuff here are just a commercial / marketing plot... LOL

Ralath 11-02-2008 04:53 AM

Halloween has been really fun here. But... not necessarily because we are going trick-or-treating or like eating candy. x)

LOL @ j00! :nahnah:

No, although a floating house would be cool. I live in a semi-rural area where few people go trick-or-treating because of the distance between houses. Even though it is less rural than it was when I moved here twenty-three years ago. Back then there weren't even houses across the street. :gasp: There are two houses over there now, but they have no kids living there.

Kinda sad, yeah, because I have always, always, always had treats available. And good treats too! Usually I get stuff I will eat since I don't expect to run out. :arg:

And when Spirit was a child there were some kids across the street and one street over, and they would all trick or treat here, but then they got too old for it and now no one. But I still have treats available, just in case.

Blaaaaaaaah 11-02-2008 02:19 PM

-knocks on Loki's door-

Treat or treat!!!

Hessah 11-02-2008 10:11 PM

LOL.. i could actually see my mum... had all the treats prepared...

and when halloween is over and no one came for a treat.. all the treats are hers! And she'd be happy XD

I wish more people would realize Australia is not America we dont celebrate Halloween. I know people are trying to but lets be honest Halloween =/= Australia. Its like Australia celebrating the 4th of July so awkward and not going to happen.
