is fiesta a resource hog?

so my computer is pretty well built, and i'm on a pretty fast connection (28000 kb/s dl speed anyone?) but for some reason i cant run any music player and fiesta. Zune software wasn't working, so i switched to WMP since its a bit less resource intensive, that still was giving me some lag, so i switched to winamp, which is probably the smallest music player available, and i'm still spiking pretty bad.

So right now i'm worried, but does anyone have the minimum and reccomended specs for fiesta so i can see if my computer is just being weird or if this is normal. I'm sure they are on the outspark website, but opera breaks that page and i uninstalled IE.

I run a comp with 1.6 Ghz CPU and 700 Mb RAM, and it eats up 99% of my CPU.

O-mie 09-22-2007 02:48 AM

It eats my virtual memory like you wouldn't believe @_@

the fact that you can even run the game on those specs and i'm still getting lag on my specs worries me a bit

dual core 2.66Ghz per core, 4gigs of ram, dual 8800GTX SLi.

and it's still not strong enough to run fiesta and a media player? o.O

Loveless 09-22-2007 03:01 AM

1.6 Ghz and 0.99 GB of RAM Centrino Duo

Fiesta by itself take sup roughly 55% and with the music player on it goes up to around 60% give or take... I run Windows Media Player btw.

My connection isn't that great running on wireless but I hardly lag... even in Elderine/Roumen with the spammers.

Symphoni 09-22-2007 03:04 AM

huh?..i play fiesta with rakion while im resting in fiesta..and it doesn't lag.

Loveless 09-22-2007 08:46 AM

It's possible that you've got something else running in the background that's eating up the RAM. Try a spyware/virus scan to make sure everything is fine. Also doing a Disk Cleanup to get rid of temporary files would help clear up some space. Doing a periodic defragmentation works as well especially after downloading huge files and/or lots of files.

KY_Jelly 09-22-2007 08:54 AM

you really think i dont already do that on a on a regular basis?

you think anyone with a computer built like mine doesn't do that on a regular basis?

Have you tried Fiesta without SLI? There have been known problems with SLI giving lower FPS on games (just search google).

If you're using a high resolution, try going down to a lower one. I really don't think the resolution is the problem as you have GTX's, but its just something I thought of.

Also, whats your CPU usage when Fiesta is running? Ram usage?

As a comparison, I'm running a Q6600 and X1650 Pro, at 1280x960 res, 40% cpu usage tops. You definitely shouldn't be having these problems.

games have the habit to never go into idle. In other words: taking all the cpu time they can get. To solve these problem ether lower the priority of fiesta, or raise the priority of the player.

To do that, press [ctrl][alt][del] at the same time. These way u open up the process manager.
There u go into the "Processes"-Tab, there u can see all the running Processes.
Right click on ether "fiesta.bin" for fiesta or "wmplayer.exe" for windows media player and choose a Priority.
Lower the Priority to let other processes speed up, or raise its Priority to speed up the process.
The best is if u raise the Priority of "wmplayer.exe".

Note: Do never raise the Priority to the highest level, unless u know what u are doing. Raising the level a little is mostly enough.

Ares works fine with fiesta for me... even thought it is a p2p sharing program.

Hrm, good thread - the SLI bit is interesting. I'll have to keep it in mind, since I just ordered a new SLI computer. I'll be very sad if I have performance issues on that ;_;

I'd recommend canceling the order if possible. SLI doesn't give as much a performance gain as you'd think it gave as most games have little to no support for it. Add in the fact that many games have problems with SLI, I don't find its worth it at all. Performance gain in SLI is just not worth the money spent. You'd gain more performance, save yourself the headache from problems, and save a bit of money, if you were to get one *better* video card (such as a single 8800 GTS/GTX, ~$270/$500) than going SLI with say, 8600 GTS (~$170 x2 = 340 total).

KY_Jelly 09-25-2007 07:02 AM

i have been looking into that quite a bit. thanks for pointing that out kixira.

when the 7000 series nvidia cards come out in december, i'm likely only going to buy one, so you just saved me a sizable amount of cash.

I cant even remember what graphix card and modem this comp has now its like 2 years old rofl!!! I know it had the best it like could have though when we got it made for us :D

NekoXx 09-27-2007 10:01 AM

Eh ? I don't really see the point in this post but, Fiesta isn't a demanding game one bit in terms of Specs. It has about the same specs as World of Warcraft and that doesn't seem to bother 8million people.

KY_Jelly 09-27-2007 07:25 PM

it was an issue of screenlag caused by my SLi. the problem has long since been solved.

slayer_Xar 09-28-2007 05:29 PM

eh i think im the worse here 224 mbs of ram playing fiesta which is dumb i know but what can ya do when ya cant but ne ram sticks :P
