Suicide
Just a couple of days ago a man in his mid-30s committed suicide. Sources say that he had ran up the escalator, turned around and jumped off the third floor. The reason was losing stock.
------ On that day my mom and I arrived at the mall to find that the doors were locked. Since the doors were made of glass we peeked inside wondering what was going on. It was too early for the mall to close. We found a group of officers around a tarp covering something... we knew something had happened but we never expected it to be something as serious. We saw that there were some people still in the mall so at the time we thought maybe it wasn't anything at all. So we went around to see if we can enter. Went through a side door into a store to buy a few things. After the check-out curiosity got the better of us and we peeked from the second floor down at the tarp. I didn't take a real good look cause I thought it was something I shouldn't see... desensitized as we are already with TV and movies it was still shocking to see a hand peeking from underneath. It was obvious someone had died... Just had to get it out cause I think I'm still a bit shocked to have seen it so close. |
hmm yeah that must have been quite horrific... usually we just see it on the paper and stuff and you don't feel it as much...
even a dead bird on the road i feel a shiver down my spine.. let alone... a human being that just took his life away.. |
Yeah... it can be a real smack of reality. I myself do not agree with or believe in suicide as an alternative solution to troubles. My opinions and views on it would tick some people off.
Some people can be insensitized to that stuff though. My dad used to deal with dead bodies everyday. Murder, suicide, natural causes, it was his job to go clean up the body and transport it to whereever they needed it to be sent. I of course couldn't do that. He once tried to pick me up from my friends with a body in the back of his van x.x |
A foreign exchange student was walking across the street at a local college and was hit by a car and we just so happened to be grocery shopping nearby. Well, when we were leaving-- traffic was obviously starting to get backed up (I think we were pulling out like.. less than a minute after the boy got hit) and as we were trying to get out of the parking lot.... we saw everything.
And I'm talking brutal. He was like... wrapped up in between the tire of the car and the frame. It was one of those things that was so disgusting, it actually made you look away instead of keep watching. It was horrific. I know how you feel. :/ |
And that day my mom had asked if I want to go out shopping with her and I was being a bit lazy and took some time getting ready. If I had been ready to go earlier... I don't think I could've taken it if I had been there when it happened.
The crazy thing is that I went to the mall couple days later. It was as if nothing happened. No body knew about it except the people who were there... and the body had been right in-front of their mock haunted house display for children. It sent shivers down my spine when I saw a family go over that very spot... |
It's so amazing how the world keeps going, isn't it?
|
Yup. It is.
It's not just suicide though... cause a classmate of mine used to live in this apartment and a shooting occurred in the elevator. Several gun shots and he had to be checked going in and out of the building. You never notice these things or really "care" until it happens very close to you. |
Then again, when it comes down to it, its just another part of life. A sad part, but just a natural part of life. I just wish people wouldn't result to killing themselves to fix their problems.
|
My opinion about suicides will probably get some upset too. I am against such actions to "solving" problems.

I know the Hong Kong Police has a team of people trained to try talk suicidal people out of suiciding...
watched a recent documentary on it, its quite amusing... they spend like 3-4 hrs talking and just trying to get a guy to either open a door, drop the knife, or get off the balcony.... and most of the time its just moments or thoughts that flew pass their mind that decides if they live or die... One of the guy was holding a knife and the police was trying to talk him into putting down the knife.. and he was just saying "he's telling me to stab myself... he's telling me to stab myself" they reckon he was under the influence of alcohol and was hearing things... its was not a "i think i should stab myself" it was "he's telling me to stab myself" =/ |
Death and remains don't bother me, but traumatic accidents I think will always give some sort of visceral reaction. I was returning home from work one night down some very rural roads and saw a head-on collision, one of which was a mini-van with two children. The van bounced off the car, then rolled a couple of times down the embankment. I called it in and went to see what I could do. Some were already dead, but the rest were insensate, at least. A boy (probably about 9 or 10, it was dark) had a tire iron lodged in his torso. After the cops showed up, I worked one side of the scene, turning away oncoming traffic and giving them alternate routes. I guess it was a good thing my friend had been a funeral director and I had been an a program in high school where we got to "intern" at various hospital departments, otherwise I might have totally lost it.
|
Yeah, I think police has a "department" specially for handling suicidal people. I mean one wrong thing and they will jump/stab/etc.
@Hrae: You had to do that in high school? That seems... "odd" exposing high school student to situations like that where some could be traumatized. I mean some just don't have the stomach for it... |
Do you know that suiciding is illegal?
lmfao o.o |
It... is? Well, only people who will be... "jailed" or whatever are suicide attempts.
|
Actually, I remember two women were joint suiciding, but one got rescued while the other one died... the one that was revived got charged :err:
I think that was in HK as well... @Hrae - That's brave... i'm sure I wouldn't be able to go near the car at all.. I'll probably try wave someone down for help, but definitely cant face seeing wats inside the car.... |
It was completely optional. The first couple of meetings were pretty "shock and awe" material. Videos, pictures, things like that. Also, tons of waivers had to be signed. We knew what we were getting into. The first month or two was basic EMT type training. CPR, inserting a trache tube, things like that. It was a very interesting experience.
|
If it was optional then I suppose that's ok. Still very brave.
I think it was in Japan... I'm not sure if it actually happened or just fiction but there was something called the "suicide club" where a bunch of people got together through the Internet and committed suicide together on a large scale. It's scary... |
Yeah that's fictional.... a large group of high school girls stood on the platform and jumped the line as the train approach.. blood and pieces everywhere....
yup.. someone tried to torrent that video and called it "Naruto Movie" or something... i think a lot of people watched it without wanting to... but i'm sure that was fictional.... |
Well, I know that train station one is. But I think I heard on the news that a group of people had committed suicide in the car... connecting the hose to the exhaust.
That would've traumatized a lot of kids and adults too. Even if it is a movie I know Japanese film can look very... too realistic. |
...Oh my god
My Friend has a video on his phone of a guy jumping head first off of an escalator, I doubt it's the same guy but *shrugs* at the end you see a little blood on the floor and the guy wiht the video going ''Oh ****, ****'' and backing away It looked like the guy survived but he wasnt moving and there was only a little blood o.O But Jeezus. Suicide, much like death sentence, is something I haven't really formed an opinion about.
I was involved in some accident much like Hrae's, except it probably wasn't as gory. A train compartment caught fire, and one of the people had pulled the emergency chain. I was made to (not exactly "made to" but after I volunteered, I was asked to) get the little children out of the compartment. A few of them had some really horrible burns. Thankfully nobody died though. Now on to suicide. It's your toy. Nobody blames you if you break it. It's your football, nobody cares if you pop it. So why is it not my life, and my choice if I wish to end it? But, then again, football's are re-buyable, toys are mendable. Some could argue that life is re-makeable, but that just doesn't give the same person back to you. Every person is a separate mind unto themselves. And therefore, I cannot make my mind up on whether suicide should be punishable or not. |

I watched suicide club, didn't finish it though. The opening scene was really freaky. I remember hearing a story about a Japanese rock start died, and over 400 girls were hospitalized from attempting suicide over his death that day. That's just that day, and the girls who survived ._. |
