bow > xbow?
 

I've seen bow archers out dps mages and xbow archers. Is it just me or are bows better overall? Im basing this because bow archers always pull aggro for some reason off the tank instead of mages or xbow archers. Yes the Eqs and lvls were relatively matched.

I dunno, I use both XD I use xbow for skills and then switch to normal bow until the skills recharge. It freaks dynamics out when we party >=D Though I will probably just use a bow at 30 since the one I have has a nice little crit bonus and some stuff xD andddd I don't feel like coughing up 17 silvers for a xbow >>

I did like a little test in a marlone fight both of us were same lvl but i was SPR build and he was STR/DEX build. both spamming skills but i was using xbow and he was using bow. overall he pulled aggro twice off the boss but I didnt nor the other few mages...

Is it the bows? or is it the builds?

At low lv (under 30 / 40 ) Builds make the difference (if eq is the same).

With same builds there is no way a bow can surpass a xbow as DPS.

Why? Simply cos Xbow has quite double weapon damage than bow. The aspd (attak speed) dont cover this gap. Bow aspd is not quite double than xbow.
Plus xbow, with his higher damage, got more damage bonus on enchant and has more crit rate (normal weapon, not Green one).

So if u seen a bow get aggro it'is because

1) different builds (maybe STR oriented)
2) different weapons (green weap with more crit or more base damage and enchant)
3) more skill spam.

That's all.

In the same condition xbow >> bow

xbows have higher crit percentage and more base damage, just slower speed. so if you spam skills, xbows are your best bet, asthe skills are independant of the weapon's attack speed.

i like o-mie's plan of spamming skills with xbow then quick switching to bow till skills recharge. Wish i coulda saw that when we were partying.

You guys talk about aggro as if it's only affected by damage. You didn't take into account that perhaps reaching a specific number of uninterrupted hits on the monster could also pull away aggro. If that were the case then it would explain why the bow pulled the aggro away earlier then the crossbow.

Personally I like the crossbow more, simply because skill criticals with it are deadly.

well i think dat bow > xbow, becuz bow has more Aim than xbow plus the hit rate is 1.1 sec unlike xbow 1.4 sec which gonna hit faster and more dmg

I was being lazy when we were partying xD Usually I get focused on that when I am in a group; right now I'm using a Storm Clause Bow at 30, it has a nice bit of crit to it so I'll stick with that until I get a Xbow or something x3

do the math, xbow dps is still higher.

Actually a bow will kill something faster than an Crossbow with just regular attack. At lvl 20 (I'm full SPR) I had a crossbow. Now i went to roumen and saw
someone selling a roumen bow for 1 silver. So i quickly bought to sell it for more. Before i sold it i decided to do a little comparisin(misspellled). The bow did 40 dmg to a smart phino. A crossbow did 50. Now take into comparisin(misspelled again!) The speed and the bow did more. Now a crossbow did way more with skills.

Now i'm wondering, in higher lvls you have to party to lvl up. And since archers skill have such a high cooldown, would it be better to use a bow for dps?

PS: Can someone tell me how to spell comparisin.

Bow most likely won't be better for DPS because xbows have a higher crit % on top of the fact that they do more damage skill wise. The aspd isn't enough to deter the fact that xbow will have a higher dps, even with skill cooldown time factored in.

I could be easily wrong since no one has really done a test with this with a semi-high level archer.

Comparisin is spelled comparison.

If you can get a bow with an upped crit rate (like mine :3~ though its not AMAZING D< But saved me 17 silvers... SHUT UP!) you could probably suffice. :3

i am a lvl 44 archer...i wa using xbow from lvl 20 to 40 and then i switch to bow...it seems to be faster and more accuracy..it does less dmg..but faster to kill... or u can say xbow and bow are at the same lvl there is no right or wrong answer for this one

i made some tests with my lv 25 archer (25 spr ) with both sun bow and sun xbow.

I killed a lot of mara pirate of many type and calculated the average damage of both weapon.

Not so high difference like i was thinking but still xbow >> bow for DPS with regular hit.

But if u add the crits (not on skill, just regolar hit) too the difference is clear. Xbow > bow.

So as far i've seen bow dont kill faster than xbow. Viceversa is true.

U can get green bow with crit % same as the base xbow, but there are xbow with even more crit (like 8%). Same for base atk. There is sun bow, but there is sun xbow too.... plus xbow with his higher damage get more bonus on enchant.

Bow is good for kitting ( "hit, run, hit, run,hit, run" and not "skil, run 4 skill to recharge, skill") and for the good looking sprite.
The Aim too, but there are aim scroll on that purpose.

but xbow is slow

I thought crossbows were slow too, at first. Now I'm used to its speed.

Just start use them and u wont notice the speed anymore...anyways i dont mind shoot slower if every hit do more and more damage. I love purple crit.

heres what i got from reading the replies, if you could get a bow/xbow thats green or special in someway, get it, use it.

You'll see when PvP is implemented. You'll see.
