Reputation Comments

A few things in regards to this. As of lately, we've seen many threads about negative reputation. Nothing good has ever come out of these threads, so we have decided to add some "rules" on this subject. It is long, but I suggest you to read all of it.

1. Threads made about negative reppers (whether it'd be a thread raging at the neg reppers or a thread laughing at them for being sad) will be automatically closed.
2. No flaming in reputation comments are allowed. Reputation comments are there for you to provide constructive criticism. This does not include calling people names such as "stupid" or "idiot" or "dumb" and the like.
3. Rep comments are now moderated if reported. If you are caught flaming in rep, you will receive a warning for first offense. Any more offenses after first warning, you will be given an infraction. However, reps will not be removed.
4. Report rep comments via Talk With The Mods section so all moderators can see it.
5. We will NOT tell you who had flamed you in the derep. We will only tell you whether we have warned the derepper or not.
6. Spam negative repping is also not tolerated. Doing so will also result in a warning/infraction.
7. We will NOT moderate reps if the person getting flamed makes a thread about it in the first place. You are to report it if you want something done.

Note: This will only apply to rep comments made after this announcement has been posted.

Banning

As everyone should know, three infractions result in a temporary 7 day ban. However, we would like to remind everything that creating an alternate account to continue posting here is not the way to go.

If you are caught making an alternate account while you are in a temp ban, the temp ban on your main account will be extended for another 7 days. You will get two chances. If you still continue to create alternate accounts, you will receive a permanent ban after the third alternate account created.

However, FiestaFan will give second chances. Your account will remain permanently banned, but you will be allowed to come back again after two months.

My thought is this is a great idea to make the rep Abuse less and less in this forums.

And sorry I forgot to add that this will only come to effect for rep comments made after the announcement was posted. Thanks Dark for reminding me.

Either way it should keep flamers at bay.

Not that I will do this, but how do you guys know that someone is creating another alt account? DO you guys know whose IP address is?

Also, if someone gets banned then comes back after two months and gets banned again, will they be able to come back?

Well, as stated in the OP you'll get a second chance. So if they get their second account banned I don't think that person deserves to come back?

Of course there's no real way of stopping people from coming back permanently. It is the internet, of course. Though hopefully we won't have any members that will reach this stage. D:

People can still neg rep you. They just canot flame you in the neg rep.


Example:

neg rep comment: You suck, go away. <----- flaming.

neg rep comment: that was mean. <----- not flaming.

neg rep comment: you are stupid. <----- flaming.

neg rep comment: you post the stupidest things. <---- not flaming.


Neg reps are still allowed, flaming in rep comments are not.

This is reasonable..

But, even if the person is given constructive criticism, they will still be pissed about the neg rep because they disagree with the cc >.> You Admins/Mods might get bugged even more now with pointless complaints about rep when the comment was perfectly fine. :x Whatever though xD!

I'm sure the admin will filter wat's OK and wat's not... and act accordingly.

Sounds like people have been aggressive with the rep comments, hence this new rule. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of offensive comments and if there really is one, the mods / admins can now do something about it!

Well that sort of thing will happen regardless right? And like Hessah said the mods will filter what's actuall flaming and what's not.

Again, keep in mind that a rep doesn't really do much to you as a person. Just because you've got xx amount of rep doesn't mean you become nicer or meaner with the +/-.

sometimes when there's consistency in statements from many different people, even if the statements are stupid or flamey, it means something.

@ Carmasa - any that you receive after the date of this thread, report them. However, we cannot stop people from neg repping you. Just from flaming you in the comments.

Keep spam elsewhere. This discussion should be directly about the rule not your reps.
