why is it when someone finds something that they lost they always say it was in the last place they looked....

It isn't like you are going to continue to look for something after you find it.

ohhh i lost my keys and it was in the third to last place I looked. I knew I found it but just wanted to keep looking just in case I was wrong.

Simply because it was not the first place they looked.

I think it knows you're looking for it so it moves around and hides

but it will always be the last place you look if you find it, even if it was the first place you looked.

Manz, sometimes thare are things that you just cant solve, like "Can God preheat a burrito so hot, that He Himself would not be able to eat it?" and "Who came first chicken or the egg?". I tried that once, and all I got was a headache.

I think the phrase actually means...

"The last place I thought to look."

Yep, Ralath hit the nail on the proverbial head. The phrase has become bastardized through the years to by nigh on utterly meaningless. And...and...I really want to get into the whole God thing, but I'd probably modded to hell and back for flame baiting.
