Spore
last I remember its being released on Sept. 9th
anybody planning on buying it? I want to, I watched the previews for it on google videos and it was so cool at end game you get a UFO and you have a death ray :cutielove: |
I think its sept. 9th. Thats what it says in my issue of Game Informer. Though, I don't really care about spore since I don't have a PC that is capable of playing it. It never really sparked my interest anyway. Not really a fan of any game that is anything like an RTS. Never liked RTS.

thought there might have been an extended gameplay version on galactic so regular is good enough for me I never have space to keep boxes for games xp |
I've been playing this game for the last two days, (piracy is bad kids, but it's a lot faster than commercial...). I have to say, I think I hate Will Wright. He's like an evil genius bent on destroying my social life with his pointless, yet fun and dangerously addictive games. I've been hooked since the original Sim City.
Spore is fun. It's weird as hell, but fun. It has five "stages" that you go through. Cell, Creature, Tribal, Civilization and Space. I just made it to space before I stopped playing last. The first two you develop your creature from a little amoeba thingy to... whatever you decide to make it. Mine is some sorta strange 3-legged, omnivorous, predator... thing. O_o Tribal and Civizilation has some light RTS stuff, but it's not really like a real in depth RTS. Haven't tried Space yet, I will tonight. The most fun might be just making all the silly creatures though, lol. It'll be interesting, once I get the legit version, to see how the online stuff works. |

I guess we're probably the same type of people who will have to chuck our computers and hard drives out the window if the government ever comes after us :zomg: |

Im sooo getting it. I have it preordered too. And since I work at gamestop, discounts ftw.
|

|
I'm careful of anything that was hyped this much.
Looks like I'm getting it. |
Laifun's gf is posting with his account?
o.O XD |
I've played it a good bit more and I think I've more or less formed my opinion of it. In short, it's highly flawed, but still fun for a while and, to me anyway, it's worth buying.
I think it's sort of mix of a few different, and pretty mediocre, games held together by the creature/building/vehicle creators. In all honesty, the actual gameplay for the various stages really isn't that good; it's mostly a very watered down RTS/RPG hybrid. It's extremely simplistic, not very challenging and very tedious and frustrating at times, especially in the Space stage. Pretty much everything you do, you could do much better in another game that focuses on the single genre. Aside from fiddling around with the creators though, I don't think Spore has much replay value at all. Maybe twice through to try both the peaceful and warlike routes, but beyond that, it would just be repetitive. It isn't like other Will Wright games that are open ended and essentially infinitely re-playable because Spore has a specific progression with goals that don't vary from game to game. The online stuff is not at all what I had in mind either. Pretty much all being online does for you is gives you direct and automatic access to all the creatures/vehicles/buildings that other players have created. That's it. I had this grand vision of evolving alongside friends and conquering galaxies together in the end or something like that, but it's entirely single-player. All that sounds mostly negative, but Spore is more than the sum of its parts. In the end, it's somehow still pretty good. It's fun and addictive and if you're into the creators aspect of it, then those alone are worth the price tag. Even though the creators are also simplistic and annoyingly limited with some things, and most everything is purely aesthetic in the endgame, they're still a blast to mess around with and you can easily spend hours in there designing various things. |
I was goina do the trail but i have to have the Ea account, i think that boogest

Yay Spore release. I guess |
Almost a necro, but not quite.
Okay, while out shopping with my son this weekend, he saw this game at GameStop and showed a very peaked interest in it. So, I went on-line today to order it for him to put away for Christmas, but I got a little confused. I started to just buy Spore, then I was gonna through in the guide to help get him started. Then I saw the Galactic version. Now, he would like the other stuff that comes in the Galactic version, so I just want to make sure that it is still the same game and all that. It looks like it has multiple discs, so one is Spore, one is the DVD on how to build your spore, and the other is the Spore Creature Creator??? Also, the hardback book that comes in the Galactic version - it is not the hardback guide book that you can also buy is it? I was going to get him both guides, the paperback and the hardback. But, wanted to make sure I wsa not duplicating anything. |
Hmm, i feel like playing this game now.
Anyone know of a free trial of the game? Spirit is your son going to play fiesta? |
He has already played and lost interest. He went through Pirates of the Caribbean, now it is on to Empire of the Ages. He only stays interested for a few months, then it is off to other things.

Wait: Empire of the Ages = Age of Empires Right? |
