Sigh

I can't tell which is more pathetic, that badminton is an Olympic sport or that I'm watching it at nearly 0200.

A_Forever 08-09-2008 06:51 AM

Whats so bad about badminton? o.o

Yosei 08-09-2008 06:58 AM

Its basically tennis with a child safety ball.

A_Forever 08-09-2008 07:00 AM

Go play with them @_@ See if you can keep track of where it is.

Hraesvelg 08-09-2008 07:02 AM

Its like playing world class tiddly-winks or International Hopscotch.

A_Forever 08-09-2008 07:02 AM

Is not D:

Ralath 08-09-2008 07:02 AM

Could be golf.

Actually.

I was watching sabre earlier. Haha. xD Badminton too. But now I've... stopped.

Lol. :zip:

Hraesvelg 08-09-2008 07:03 AM

OK, fencing is starting. Much better. Or maybe NBC lies and just says its live, heh.

Rightclaw 08-09-2008 07:03 AM

12 freaking hours.

A_Forever 08-09-2008 07:04 AM

Its 3pm in Beijing o:

Hraesvelg 08-09-2008 07:09 AM

How can they fence with all that electronic kit on? Must be distracting.

Ralath 08-09-2008 07:12 AM

I think they wear most of that stuff anyway. Except for the electronic stuff of course.

I know for sabre, the electronic stuff was a fairly recent addition. It was like 56 years after epee did it. But... I'm sure the athletes get used to it. Also, apparently this is the first time that electronic instant slow-replay will be used or something.

/Wikipedia-and-live-commentary-reading.

o-o

I dun even know how the judges can tell who's hitting who first.

Hraesvelg 08-09-2008 07:14 AM

I've now switched to what appears to be gay men in pajamas trying to decide who is going to be the power top.

a.L 08-09-2008 07:18 AM

Who wants to watch walking? That is, if you can see through the smog.

"Its my turn tonight!"

This guy is too good to wear a silly wig.

Actual camera angle for the judo right now. I can REALLY see what's going on. I can see that they're throwing each other a wee bit on the far mat...but damn.

I just read the whole schedule. Table Tennis. PING DAMN PONG is an Olympic Sport....and...and...TRAMPOLINE? WTF? I remember why I never watch these things now.

Enraya 08-09-2008 07:55 AM

LOL. What is trampoline about anyways? I saw it on the website and was like o___o

Blaaaaaaaah 08-09-2008 07:56 AM

Hraes, you just reminded me of a friend.

Hessah 08-09-2008 12:47 PM

Patches 08-09-2008 05:03 PM

Yosei 08-09-2008 05:10 PM

Its in China! What do you expect??? That was prolly in the terms of conditions. There must be a ping pong event.

Okay, jk, thats not nice.

Hessah 08-09-2008 10:22 PM

You should see the chinese practice ping pong...

they draw a grid on the table... and tey practice till they can hit each coordinates specifically....

its nuts :gasp:

but amazing at the same time!

Ralath 08-10-2008 05:09 AM

I was in Shanghai at um... a Youth... Center? (Idk how to translate it.) But this was like... recreational stuff and the drills they make the students do are so... intense... o_o

Hraesvelg 08-10-2008 05:32 AM

On NBC's video stream on judo right now and there's a text commentary going on. I think the commentator is a teenager.

Copied: (reverse chronological order)

i have a hard time with this making the other athlete wait
you are supposed to have a replacement gi on hand
i think that is wrong that the other fighter has to wait so long
this is a problem when there is a blood injury you most often haveto change the gi
ecu on the other hand really likes just to stand with you and throw you with his seionage
sasha is a very well rounded fighter - he likes both standing and ground work

The guy from Canada won the match..."Win by Yuko." Sounds painful and I was watching. I can't make heads or tails out of the scoring.

Ralath 08-10-2008 06:27 AM

Eh... that's what I felt like when I was watching sabre earlier but watching the girls scream after they win a point is... mesmerizing. @_@;;

The tennis play-by-play is really good. But it's done by a writer so.... yeah. ^^
