30 and 60 second rule

I'm sure most of us know that if you're posting on the forums, you will need to wait at least 30 seconds before making your next post; and if you are sending private messages, you will have to wait at least 60 seconds (correct me if I'm wrong on this, I don't really remember).

Since I had forgotten to include this in the survey, here is a poll on it. Do you like it, or do you not?

If the majority doesn't like it, the limit will be reduced. However, we will not be removing this completely due to bots.

BEFORE YOU VOTE, PLEASE READ:

Advantage of reducing:
- Basically, just more convenient for the fast posters here.

Disadvantage of reducing:
- Bots will spam us faster. Please note this disadvantage when you vote in the poll. We all know how bots love FiestaFan here, so they can and will be able to spam a lot quicker.

If you have any suggestions relating to this issue, suggest away!

CURRENT POSSIBILITIES

- Make it so that Premium Users get the privilege of no limits.

Thank you.

Dynamics 07-29-2008 03:21 AM

I don't mind how it is.

Edit: Actually yeah might be a good premium privilege.. Most of the fast posters are the premium peoples.

Ralath 07-29-2008 03:21 AM

Is there anyway make this a privilege... like only certain users with "x" number of posts to be able to have this privilege?

I will ask Entropy on that, I'm not really sure myself.

Edit: Though it should be possible to make certain groups with no limit because I know Super Mods or Admins don't have the limit.

Perhaps, make Premium users with that privilege??

A_Forever 07-29-2008 03:24 AM

PM's are 60secs, ma'am @_@

Blaaaaaaaah 07-29-2008 03:28 AM

Changed.

And it seems like some groups (like event winners) don't have the limit while others does.

Gotta check this out.. @_@"

Esen 07-29-2008 03:28 AM

It doesn't affect me, but I think I rather see it as a premium privilege due to the disadvantages. This way, Liz can be happy too~

We don't/didn't have a limit? o_o

The reason this doesn't affect me because I don't PM or post a lot, especially not in row.

Ralath 07-29-2008 03:30 AM

I... think we still have the 30 second limit. I'm pretty sure. o-o

Yup. We do.

Hessah 07-29-2008 03:31 AM

Seems like I dont have a limit.. (a PM limit that is, I still have a post limit)

but... i'm a premmy, supporter and an event winner, so i dunno which one is giving me the privilege...

It makes sense to have premmy and supporters a no-limit group...

otherwise....

maybe just lower the PM limit to 30 sec as well.... -vote-

Blaaaaaaaah 07-29-2008 03:31 AM

@Ralath: Can you try the pm-ing limit? You can pm me to try it out.

A_Forever 07-29-2008 03:33 AM

If premmy gets the post rule taken away, then supporter should get the pm thing taken away? LOL Supporter already gets a huge PM space though...

Ralath 07-29-2008 03:34 AM

I do have a PM time limit.

And I have all the tags that Hessah does.... ._.

Yeah, if premmy gets the post rule taken away, I think Supporter should get them too cos they are... supporters, haha.

I think I know why btw.

I think it's because some people are "moderators" of guild forums, so they don't have the limit.

WAIT. I thought booyah is a moderator and he has the limit too. @_@"

Edit: Nvm, seems like guild mods only have the privilege in their own guild forums.

Hessah 07-29-2008 03:41 AM

By the way, just another piece of feedback

I think if you are to "remove" the limit for premmy/supporters, may I suggest to just lower it to like 5 secs, instead of taking it away altogether..

I know i've had times where it lagged and it hit "submit post" twice.. and it stopped me from "double posting" by accident as a message would come up telling me to wait 30 sec..

Hraesvelg 07-29-2008 03:44 AM

People just need to slow the hell down and reflect on what they're typing. Leave it as is, LOL

Blaaaaaaaah 07-29-2008 03:45 AM

In that case, though, it will usually tell you that the message you have posted (the second time) is the same one, and it will tell you to wait before redirecting you back to the first post you did.

I get that a lot.

Here's the thing though: I'm not sure if we can lower it for just certain groups while regular members still maintain the 30 sec limit. Gotta see what Entropy says.

A_Forever 07-29-2008 03:45 AM

Well, the 60sec rule for PM's is not fun. I some times have several people PM'ing me and constantly dealing with that 60sec thing is bs.

LOLOL! I agree!!!

Hyper 07-29-2008 03:49 AM

I don't care about PMing, but posting should stay the same.

If anything Supporters should have higher privilege than Premium user we donated to help the site while the people without it didn't.

The PM limit/time limit on the Supporter group should be the same or better than the Premium User group.

But as far as posting goes it should stay the same.

A_Forever 07-29-2008 04:00 AM

Premmy gets 500 for pm space >.> We get 5000 xD

From the admin panel:

Quote:

Minimum Time Between Posts
You may prevent your users from flooding your forum with posts by activating this feature.

By enabling floodcheck, you disallow users from making another post within a given time span of their last posting. In other words, if you set a floodcheck time span of 30 seconds, a user may not post again within 30 seconds of making his last post.

Administrators and moderators are exempt from floodcheck.

Recommended: 30 seconds. Type the number of seconds only. Enter 0 to disable this function.
Quote:

Floodcheck - Minimum Time Between Messages
Private Message Flood Checking. Select the minimum time that must pass before a user can send another private message. This is to prevent a single user 'spamming' by sending lots of messages very quickly.

Set this to 0 to disable the option.
So I guess these can't be changed by usergroup. Unless there is a vb modification or something.

Winnrar.

I think that sometimes we're posting/PM'ing at a high rate of speed, and seeing as how I'm not going to spam your forums, and also as I have paid money to the site as I love it...

I think I really shouldn't have to wait to post 30 seconds, and 60 for PMs.

Personal opinion~

Cool, thanks.

And results are pretty... evenly distributed so far...~

Hraesvelg 07-29-2008 05:31 AM

Seems that might be what you're looking for.

Vasu 08-02-2008 05:33 PM

Keep the post, do away with the PM. Oh btw, Blaahs, the last option should be "It does not affect me" and not, it does not "effect" me. ;)
