I worked for years in the QSR industry (Quick Service Resturant)...at a bevy of places. I also worked for a time at regular, "sit down" chain resturants. If you are at all squeamish about how food is handled, you should probably stay home and make it yourself. Trust me.

supposingly maccas's burgers are all made and ready to go...
same goes for burger kings.... but usually burger king's business is quite slow so instead of making burgers that sits there for 10 mins.. they make it as they get orders... I suppose the maccas u went to was not a very... busy one |

Also you are Australian dont refer to it as Burger King use Hungry Jacks |
Lol.
I remember the days of purple-meat chicken nuggets at McDonalds. Good times, good times. |
Subway is a QSR. If the food isn't served at your table, odds are its a QSR. Another defining characteristic is if the food is designed to be taken away for carry out. Sure, some place have seating, but once you're gone from the counter, the transaction is generally finished.
McDonald's hasn't used the fully prepared bin system for about a decade. All of their orders are made-to-order, only because some other chains started offering the service and started kicking the giant's ass due to the decrease in quality of the food. |
