Charge a fee to be able to "shout"
I just saw this feature in another game and thought it was brilliant. What do you think?:
Charge an in-game money fee to "shout" |
What would the point be?

RF Online??
the Block feature sounds good enough for me... |
Cut down on chatter

And, if I'm not mistaken, it accounts for a very large pull on buffers which lead to lag(can someone confirm this?) Quote:

I don't really see the point. The shouts don't have very many spammers anymore because of the level limit, its mostly in the normal chats in Roumen where it's a problem and the block list takes care of that. As for cutting down on general chatter...isn't that the point of a MMO? Maybe you like to just grind, grind, grind...but I like the conversations that go on, for the most part.

My friends and I have talked about how people just get used to it. He was talking, initially, about other features that contained annoyances, and from WoW, but the general point was that we all get used to things, and when we get a break we're like "Wow I forgot how nice it could be without..." or "I was so used to this, I stopped thinking how nice it'd be if it were..." Kind of akin to taking things for granted. Like some people near the ocean take the beach for granted and start hardly ever going until they move and then there like "I wish I woulda went more.." The shortcuts can be really nice to. The system works, no doubt about that, but sometimes it'd be nice not to need it. When I'm in town chatting to someone in the same town, and whispering to my friend in a KQ I can easily miss something one of them said and it can be annoying, even doing that one little step of clicking to switch channels. I dunno, it'd be nice to hear from more people what they think of this. |
Bots usually just use normal chat, since there's no level limit or cooldown.
Making the level 6 limit was a stupid idea ever up until the block feature. At least we could turn shout off? Turning off normal fails. |

Shout conversations are annoying though. A fee would deter them.
Some of them I can't block because they may or may not purchase my merchandise. Whereas I do not like their shouting habits, I like their gold. |
I just have shout "turned off" at all times usually.
As for the bots, I just block them as I go by or whatever xD I like normal chat in Eld though >_> It can be....very interesting. |

It may not seem like a big deal, or a problem at all, but I think not having to go the extra steps(no matter how simple they seem at the time) could be worth it. Like I originally said, When I experienced it, I was like wow, this is actually really nice, and I don't have to worry whether I forgot to switch my chat settings, and I don't have to... This is another great topic for the podcast. Maybe I'll mention it there. Better yet, send me your 2 cents, and your thesis long emails or record yourselves saying somethng and I'll play it. It can be totally anonymous, I won't say who it is. It's totally up to you whether or not to say "Hi, this is..." But send me your thoughts on it. I needz them:cries: |
this is like SoS u have to buy an egg just to shout
|
why should I have to pay to talk just coz spam bot invaded the town....
2 click in game will probably save me a few dozen coppers.... |
