Yeah i saw advertisment for this on onrpg a week or so ago.
It looked good then i saw the outcome. The turn based isnt for me.

I'm trying this game out and there are some things I like about it, but I very much doubt I'll take it very far.

One thing I don't like is that I can't get a great frame rate going in it. I play much better looking games at a much higher frame rate than I get in here and that's irritating to me.

I love the auto travel though. I'm returning to a quest giver as I type this. :)

Lol, it is like Final Fantasy =D I wonder if that gets annoying, the killing looks slow, I hope the exp makes up for it.

Pritcher 08-08-2008 03:16 PM

lol, like Final Fantasy with no story. Kinda doesn't work. I'm also finding it kind of tough to get around and find stuff, but that could be because I'm just not used to the areas I guess.

Meh... back to Combat Arms.

Mobly 08-08-2008 05:11 PM

okay, I love SRPG's on my PS2 like Disgaea, etc...

Please, can you tell me about character stat/skills. Are they highly customizable as is one of the main attractions of turn-bases strategy rpg's???

and anything else you feel like telling us, would be cool too:laugh:

Pritcher 08-08-2008 07:07 PM

It isn't a strategy rpg like Disgaea, FF Tactics, Fire Emblem, etc... It's just a MMORPG with turn based combat similar to the main Final Fantasy games and other JRPGs. You don't place your guys and move them around to make use of elevation, cover, line of sight, etc... That would be kind of cool, though.

The stats thing I'm not really sure about. The best I could figure you get this potion thing from drops that you can use on yourself or one of your mercenaries if you have bonus points, which I assume you get from leveling. It seems to add to one of the stats at random? O_o I could be totally wrong there since I didn't play all that much, but it really isn't very intuitive.

The skills similarly come from drops, at least all I've seen of the skills anyway. Each class starts with one magic ability and you can upgrade it with books you get from drops if you have the ability points. I never got anything more than the original skills, but I guess new skills will come from drops too. There are also consumable scrolls you can use in battle which do various things like attack magic, confusion, etc...

That's about all I got out of it. I didn't make it past level 10 or so though and I've already given it up, but give it a shot you may like it.

I love the gameplay of Atlantica. Finally got around to installing it on my new comp!

I'm level 12 now xD

Mobly 08-11-2008 02:17 AM

I'll wait for Open Beta. I'm already trying a couple games out, and I'll be trying Q world when it goes into open on like the 20th(I think), but I read up on it, and I want to try it. It looks interesting in the way that other one, by the creator of Ragnarok made(the one that's like 18 century England and you can control up to 3 players at once)
