[Project Powder] Level 2 Licenses

Any tips?

I'm stuck on Stale Fish Tweak Level 2 (A and the A+Up) and I can't pass it. >_<

fullback 07-04-2008 11:17 PM

DO you run out of time?

Loveless 07-05-2008 12:07 AM

I can't do any of the level 2 either. Partly because it's laggy but... I run out of time + can't get all the tricks done. >< I was like wtf why is this so hard!!

fullback 07-05-2008 12:10 AM

It took me forever to get my first one. But you have to get more than one trick per jump.

Loveless 07-05-2008 12:29 AM

... ew... when I try I just fall. Lol I guess I'll just keep at it...

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 12:30 AM

I was writing up a mini guide for it. Gimme some time I'll have it up later today.

Loveless 07-05-2008 12:32 AM

Yay! Until then... I'll just... keep on failing. :cries: I wish my Internet was bettur...

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 12:55 AM

I am gonna eat breakfast. And then I'll try to get the little guide done. Then I'm gonna be AFK-ing on PP all day MANN! I'll see if I can fraps any licenses I haven't done yet... I found it hard to explain some thingies.

Lady-Loki 07-05-2008 01:45 AM

I believe there are 5 jumps per run. Four jumps per license. Start trick as soon as you leave the ground and hold as long as possible for the maximum points.

Yosei 07-05-2008 01:47 AM

I thought I was the only one with that problem. I was all like "No I can't ask, they'll think I'm so nubby!"

I tried the two tricks in one jump, I just fall over.

Warning_Shot 07-05-2008 01:48 AM

Hey guys, apparently there's an open beta for this 24 hour window. I'm gonna try and play, hope to see you on there.

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 02:31 AM

I'm gonna have to play the game again to remember the hills and locations for the guide, LOL. I forgot exact locations.

Jump around and you'll find hills between ramps though. There's a big hill you can use between second and third ramp.

I don't get high enough off the ground for me to do more than one trick. D:

Or maybe I'm just holding something too long...

Really? I always thought I was two hills/jumps two short of the goal. Maybe one. >_<

:uhoh: I'm not good at identifying hills. Just the obvious ramps. XD

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 05:05 AM

I've managed to get fraps of two licenses I did. Hopefully that will explain better.

<-- is getting down to it now.

Ralath 07-05-2008 05:09 AM

Haha. xD

I got them now. Once Loki told me that you could jump off the HILLS and not just the RAMPS, it was a lot easier.

Still pretty hard. Ever after getting all 5 tricks, I had problems getting enough points and getting there in time.

Both times, I got there in like... 35:56 and 35:87 for a 36 sec race. Dx

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 05:14 AM

I did one that's like, 35.95 seconds in 36 xD Or 34.95 in 35, I forgot. BUT DAYUMM every millisecond literally counts.

You have to do 6 tricks later on.

fullback 07-05-2008 05:25 AM

I always finish a little after the screen says 1.

a.L 07-05-2008 05:52 AM

Finished all the level 2 licenses for my level, woo.

fullback 07-05-2008 06:18 AM

I just did a couple. The one kickflip 720 level 2 license is kind of tough.

Laifun 07-05-2008 10:09 AM

The first level 2 licence took me about 15 tries.. after that I did them all on the first go...

When you start just hold down space and jump after like 2 seconds.. there's like a little dip where you can get 2 moves in.. then after that try to complete the required moves on the next few and try spin around a few times to get more boost.

I usually make it on like 34.99 seconds (or whatever.. it's like 0.01 seconds till it fails xD)

Blaaaaaaaah 07-05-2008 10:29 AM

Gonna post this on the new forum anyway so I won't be bothered to make a new thread for it. If anyone still can't do it or needs help for the 6 tricks one, here's a guide for you.

-----------------------------------------------------

License Guide/Tips

[Note: I've only done the step 2 licenses with up to 6 tricks so far, so this is what the guide is for. I have no clue about harder ones]

Here's a short little nub guide for our snowboarders. A lot of people has been asking me how to get the quests, so I think I'll just write a "short" thing on it.

They are not literally quests, but rather license stages that you must complete. Some licenses give you exp boost after completing them. Check your trick tree and it should tell you in the descriptions. The first one starts at step 2.

Now, some people found it easy, some people found it really hard. It took me MANY tries before I could get it right. They're not easy like the step 1 licenses, where you can take your sweet time to do the little tricks. Step 2 is hard because:
  • You only have 35-36 seconds (some say it goes down to 35 at higher levels).
  • You have to do 5-6 tricks, with only 3 slopes provided.
  • Falling will pretty much take away the time you need to complete the license. Every millisecond counts. Proof:
    http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/9...melimithh4.jpg
  • You may need a 7000 trick score to pass (this isn't hard to get, just frustrated me because I didn't realise I needed it when I completed the tricks in time).

But yeah, if someone comes up to you and say "wth step 2 wuz ez u noooob", just throw some snowballs at them. xD

Self explanatory.

Don't think you really need to read the stuff before if you watched the video, but might as well in case some people learn better from words. D:

Ramps and Hills

Note: There are probably several hills that you can use that I haven't found yet.

I'm going to list the ramps/hills I have found so far, and I'll give them a name.

I) Jump off
This is the bit where you jump off the board you're standing when it counts down.

II) First ramp
First ramp you see.

III) Second ramp.
Second ramp you see.

IV) First Hill
Jump again straight away after landing from second ramp, and you actually get nice long jump from this hill. You can fit two tricks in here.

V) Third ramp.
Third ramp you see.

V) Second Hill.
Second hill after third ramp.

Tricks you can fit in

[Corresponding to the ramp/hills lift above]

I) Fit in one trick here.

II) Fit in one trick here.

III) Fit in one trick here.

IV) Fit in up to two tricks.

V) Fit in one trick here.

VI) Fit in up to two tricks here.

Jump off

This method is good if you're not good with jumping with hills. I personally used this method at first when I couldn't get used to the hill. But, it doesn't work for all tricks. Some tricks can be used with the jump-off easily, some can not. It's all personal preference.

Tips
  • Try to fit in some turns in your tricks while you can - gives you more boost points and you'll probably need it to reach the 7000 trick score requirement.
  • Jump straight away after you land from the second and third ramp to take more advantage of the next hill.
  • Use your booster in the last 5-6 seconds, depending on how much boost you have. You can start it earlier after you've finished your tricks, but I found that using the booster with a curved path doesn't really help me (sometimes it makes me crash more, haha).

fullback 07-05-2008 03:23 PM

If you can hit the third jump right you can do 3 tricks on it.

Which one? The hill after the second or third ramp?

LOL, what I called 5 jumps should have been 5 ramps. I just realized as I reread this thread. LOL

KK, 5 ramps, 4 jumps.

Edit: I just discovered I missed a couple of the license so I deleted that last statement.

The ramp at 0:12

Loveless 07-05-2008 06:28 PM

... Wtf Blahs... so many tricks. >< I barely passed one level 2 license.

Esen 07-05-2008 08:12 PM

Ohh, that's what you guys meant by hills. o_o This was very helpful, thanks Blahs~ :D

Warning_Shot 07-06-2008 12:27 AM

Hey, not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but where do I check my quests?

a.L 07-06-2008 12:52 AM

^ Those quests are actually from your 2nd stage licenses.

And is there anyone on atm? D:

Laifun 07-06-2008 02:07 AM

I was just playing with Kt.. I think the server went down. :(

It took me about 30 tries to do the Kick Spin 720 Level 2... it was so much harder than all the others for some reason....

a.L 07-06-2008 02:09 AM

Yeah, I decided to do some enhancing the last 5 minutes.

Blaaaaaaaah 07-06-2008 02:10 AM

What's the Kick Spin?

I never remember trick names. Only by the letters I press LMAO.

a.L 07-06-2008 02:11 AM

E D + up.

Oh yeah I think I remember that... one of those E/D/Up tricks took A LOT longer to finish. But the one I had trouble with was actually those 1 minute ones LMAO. Couldn't jump high enough.

When you mean fit three tricks, does that include the second hill? Like, you don't land between third ramp and second hill?

Awesome guide. Never gonna fail this license test again LOL
