Does anyone still have dial-up?

.

I doubt anyone on here does. Even if they do, its probably not their fault. Their parents may not need the internet for much so they don't get high speed or even DSL.

Some kids don't get an allowance, so they can't pay for DSL or high speed. Even the kids that do get an allowance... I don't think they want to spend it on internet service just to play games when they could probably go hang out with friends at the movies and stuff.

If you live in a not-so-technologically-advanced country, you might still have it.

Otherwise... Yeah, you're weird.

^I don't know any kids who have to pay for their family's internet. O:

I'm talking about their own xD And I've talked to quite a few, lawl.

I wouldn't waste my money on it though @_@;

What's dial-up?

Hahaha.

I remember the internet making weird noises when it connected. I swore it was my sister hiding by the computer or something, but I never caught her.

Hessah 06-26-2008 02:18 AM

hmm the postage meter at work still use a dial up connection...

each time i turn that modem on to connect and transfer credit... that noise brings back memory........ ahhhh...... bad memory LOL!!

so.. yes we do use dialup.. but not for the internet...

Destrus 06-26-2008 02:35 AM

they still have those dial up commercials on tv so i guess they do. a family that doesn't use the internet much if at all would have dialup

Hraesvelg 06-26-2008 02:45 AM

I have dial-up because I live in a very rural area. Fiesta runs just fine on it. There are plans in the works for DSL in our area in the next few months, and I might switch over. So, there is nothing "wrong" with people who have dial-up. You can kindly go fuck yourself.

Edit: Now that kirby has edited the first post, I look like even more of a jackass than normal.

:D

Ivramire 06-26-2008 04:29 AM

My connections sometimes fluctuates between 2MB/s and 256kb dial-up speed...

It stops altogether when someone across the hallway uses a microwave....

I'd almost prefer a land-line dial-up connection rather than this indecisive sham of a connection.

Hessah 06-26-2008 04:53 AM

come to think of it..

some people dont even have internet access...

wats wrong with dial up?

we are too spoilt

Hyper 06-26-2008 05:29 AM

^The fact that you can't use the telephone at the same time is a biggie...

I love the dial-up noise. O_O

a.L 06-26-2008 06:15 AM

kirbysprite 06-26-2008 03:48 PM

I teach at a small private college that caters to some of our more socio-economically challenged, and many of them do not have Internet, or only have dial-up. They do things like leech off a neighbors wireless, go to the public library, go to a place with free wireless hotspots (like Panera Bread), or come down town and mooch off the business' free wifi (provided as a public service, so i guess its not mooching)

uhm...besides that I think my grandmother had wireless :D

Dezza 06-26-2008 04:14 PM

It feels like I have dailup here.. it's on average about 1.5Mbps DSL. But at my house at uni... we paid about £40/mo between 4 of us for 20Mbps cable internet... ahhhh.. how I wish I still lived there...

Hyper 06-26-2008 07:56 PM

I love "borrowing" WiFi connections from neighbors. o:

They aren't as slow as the anti-WiFi-theifs say. Trust me.
