Firstly, wat exactly is Thanksgiving? XD

Yosei 11-21-2007 10:06 PM

Since you're a noobie to Thanksgiving, I will tell you the story we're told as little kids.

Well supposedly, when the pilgrims came to America, they were having a rough winter, and they were all getting sick and dying and since the winter was rough, they couldn't get any food. Well, after that, a bunch of nice little native americans came up and decided to teach them how to hunt and farm. To celebrate their new friends and harvesting, they had a big meal. And thus made the holiday Thanksgiving.

But of course.. thats kind of unrealistic with the native Americans and the pilgrims uniting.

But its just a large feast to celebrate the end of the farming/harvesting season.

Hessah 11-21-2007 10:08 PM

XD yeah i thought the native americans are being discriminated against?

Ohhh cool? so wat is the exact date? 21st Nov? Does it become a public holiday?

Yosei 11-21-2007 10:11 PM

Its the 4th Thursday in November. Its a national holiday, almost everyone celebrates it. It isn't religious and its an excuse to eat lots and lots of food.

In my family, we're eating a turkey, duh, essential, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean caserole, corn, deviled eggs, spinach dip and crackers, cherry pie, pumpkin pie, and chocolate pudding pie.

Hessah 11-21-2007 10:16 PM

so do ppl go to work on the Friday?

oh mad a feast!

Yosei 11-21-2007 10:23 PM

We have more, but thats all I can think of.

I think people do o.o Not sure.

Hessah 11-21-2007 10:24 PM

Australia gotta find something to celebrate more often..

we get Australia Day.. but nothing special happens.. just a long weekend...

Yosei 11-21-2007 10:26 PM

I mean.. if the rest of the world really wanted, they could celebrate it too. Cuz its not like we're celebrating our Independance day, just the harvesting season. Ya'lls would be on a different time of the year obviously.

Hessah 11-21-2007 10:32 PM

i welcome any excuse for a holiday, i'll celebrate halloween, thanksgiving, independance day, chinese new year, japanese new year, moon festival, chin ming (?? azn day dedicated for relos that has passed away), budda's bday, easter, xmas, valentines day, white day, black day...

name me a celebrate and i'll gladly hv it as a public holiday XD
