I hate it when someone is such a smartass they have to argue over the littlest shit just so they can have the last word. Argh :hulksmash:

The entire storyline of X-men: First Class is off. But yes, Beast's story is the one that just ruins the entire thing <.< Because it's just absolutely wrong.

I can't really bring myself to watch it at the theatre. After they screwed the pooch so hard on X3 (not to mention I had a lot of problems with how they treated the source material...Bobby not a founder, really?), then to do things like have Banshee not be Irish...it just got under my skin to the point I'll probably just pirat...er...pick up the Blu-Ray.

Yeah. My boyfriend is a big comic nerd, and he despised the last two X-men movies because he says they butchered the characters storylines, and he especially hated how they portrayed Beast, claiming it doesn't make sense and its completely fabricated to make him a blue beast.

But he DOES have a blue form, later of course. But he does happen.

I for one thought it'd make sense in his older years to be the blue beast as he did transform himself by accident during an experiment. So of course he'd walk around as the blue beast as a 40-50something year old rep for the mutants. But alas, I date a stubborn ass lol. Completely in denial.

I read about Banshee not being Irish and one of the actors in the movie was actually Irish and found it offensive.

Yeah, I don't get the problem with Beast in the X-Men movies, aside from him being a little too human shaped. He was more of an ape-like figure when he looked more human. He "advanced" his mutation with that experiment and turned himself blue.

And now he's a cat.

Yosei 06-06-2011 07:48 PM

Yeah. My boyfriend claims its because they made it look like his appearance was his mutation and didn't exactly show case his brute power. Then in First Class, they elaborate more on his story which is still a little off, but in a nutshell how it went about.

Hraesvelg 06-06-2011 08:35 PM

If I remember the explanation in the comic, when Beast took the potion, it advanced his mutation...so that the blue fur was part of it. So it sort of made sense for him to "lose" the fur when he got near the kid. Granted, they didn't show him swinging through rooms by his feet, but they only had him on for so long...

Yosei 06-06-2011 09:20 PM

Yeah thats kind of what happened in the First Class movie. Won't spoil it for anyone. They did change some of the things on the sequence of events and the actual 'potion' itself (it wasn't a potion in the movie).

Haven't really followed the movie and don't really plan to see it. But I don't get the first class isn't, er, the actual first class....

Yosei 06-07-2011 02:09 AM

It's more so a story on how Magneto and Charles became acquainted and how they split up. Even though it might not be entirely accurate or tied to the other films. I don't think its supposed to tie to the others anyways. But they do introduce other X-men and mutants from the series like Banshee, Angel, Darwin, and Azazel (my personal favorite).

Wolverine makes an amusing cameo. But he's not part of the story.

His part was gold
