The culprit is the ntdll.dll file. I went on the web and found out that it has something to do with NT kernel (don't ask me, I dunno what that is). Anyhow, I decided to get a registry scan which found over 400 errors in my registry. Unfortunately it wants me to pay monies to clean my system, so my question is this: what are the side effects of this whole process, and is there a free program that lets me do the same thing?

Just delete the whole thing. It's all pretty useless.*

*WARNING: Do not actually delete your entire registry. That was a JOKE.
On more of a serious note, I usually use Spybot's registry scan for things like that. "Errors" in the registry are generally related to files that have been deleted, but the registry still points to them. Harmless, really, but if you get a ton of them it can bog things down a bit.

o_o spybot has a registry scan?

Belaslav 12-08-2008 10:00 PM

No waaaai???!?

Under the Tools Menu there is a "System Internals" section. That scans your registry for inconsistencies.

Destrus 12-08-2008 10:38 PM

D: i don't have a tools menu. what version of spybot do you have?

Hraesvelg 12-08-2008 10:40 PM

Spybot 1.6. It's been there forever. Make sure you're in Advanced Mode.

Destrus 12-08-2008 10:42 PM

ooohhhh, forgot about advanced mode ._.

CCleaner, Auslogics BoostSpeed do it. These two programs target registry files that are safe to delete though - generally unused registry files.

Uniblue Registry Booster & CCleaner. I don't recommend messing with your registry too much lol. I had my VAIO recovery section killed by registry programs lol.
