Well I already had like 4k rp b/c of Riot so I don't need him to buy me the skin.

Plus, he's not online right now.

how come lmq can represent NA? i don't get why they aren't china respresntatives instead

a.L 09-01-2014 12:45 PM

Because they took the necessary steps for a "new" team to represent NA and can't represent China because they haven't been participating in the LPL (China's equivalent of the LCS)

1. Move to NA
2. Get to top 20 challenger in ranked 5's on the NA ladder
3. Beat the other challenger teams in the Challenger series to earn points
4. Get enough points to enter the Challenger playoffs and place top 3 to qualify for promotions
5. Beat one of the bottom 3 LCS teams in the playoffs to qualify for the next LCS split
6. Place top 6 in the end of the LCS split to qualify for playoffs
7. Place top 3 in the playoffs

This is a really long process and requires dedication because it they moved to NA December last year to qualify for the most recent LCS split. Locodoco brought in his own Korean team to try to do the same but they were unable to qualify for the promotion tournament because for some stupid reason their internet kept giving out during one of the online tournaments. So they pretty much packed their bags and went back to Korea after a wasted few months in NA.

Arguably it's easier to get into worlds if you take this route because NA teams are weaker in general but I think they partly wanted to get away from esports in China because it's a pretty shady business over there with lots of corruption.

Even then some of the drama spilled over here because people were fighting over ownership of the LMQ team.

whoa... that sounds super complicated....

So they literally had to move to the US?? I wonder how they got visas and stuff to do that. I know they get athlete visas and whatever, but I thought you had to qualify for a specific event, not just move and take up residency in the US.

If they want to compete in the LCS, yes. Otherwise they'd have to fly to Riot's studios every weekend for their LCS matches (assuming that you don't have to be living in the region anyway). Technically they're being employed by Riot since they get salary from them so they can probably get visas for that, although there can still be complications. I think there was a player from EU who came to NA but he couldn't get his visa renewed.

I know there's corruption everywhere in China but it's still really sad to see corruption in these things. Then again, anything involves money = corruption in China I guess.

A lot of them can barely support themselves financially and I think the last year's world championship runners up haven't even received their prize money but don't quote me on this

BC their sponsors took their money??
