It should save your progress when you shutdown/restart or whatever. It should automatically create a work folder in whatever directory you run the client from and save everything in there. If it isn't making one then it might be defaulting to the one that was made for the graphical version if you didn't remove that folder. I dunno, but it definitely should save your progress when you close and pick up where it left off next time you run it.

I rarely use the text only client; only if the graphical one causes a problem in something else. So far the only problems I've come across is when playing Diablo or Gunbound and I rarely ever play either game so I use the graphical version most of the time. The two are interchangeable for me though, if I shut down the graphical version and start the text version they still work on the same WU.

P.S. Hessah... I luff the ninja text =D

sounds like u're unlucky to be stuck with a big project~ not every project is that big...

=D i guess u're one of those that's easily amused~

Pritcher 01-12-2008 09:59 PM

Y'know what I've noticed? I actually finish the 5000 frame WUs faster than the 125s I've been getting, but the 125 seem to be worth more points. O_o

Seems odd, I think those seemingly smaller ones are sometimes the ones over 5MB that you have to set in config to allow. Anyway long story short, smaller isn't necessarily faster as far as the WUs go for me.

booyah8876 01-13-2008 03:30 PM

Ok... so when I set the thing up, I said I was part of team 90021, but when I look at the stats... I'm not there... maybe I'll wait until I've completed my first work unit?? I keep starting them over on accident!! T_T

@ Pritcher:

I can't seem to get the graphical one to work! I download it, and when I go to install it... nothing ô.Ô So I stopped trying, and got the text version... T_T

Yes, you have to complete a work unit before you show up in the list.

Hard to tell why the graphical one won't install with so little information. My best guess would be that you're using Vista. That's easy to fix; remove Vista and go back to XP :p. Just kidding, but installation is a little trickier with Vista's default security settings in place I think. Read here for information on that.

If you have XP then I don't know what the issue might be. Only thing I can think of there is that maybe you don't have .NET Framwork 2.0 installed. If that's the case then get it here or just use Windows Update.

I'm still using the only sig I've ever used on here. Except during Christmas, I still used the same sig, but I put lil santa hats on the cacti.

It helps with research into protein folding. http://i.imdb.com/Photos/CMSIcons/em...sed/giveup.gif

Blaaaaaaaah 01-23-2008 12:59 PM

My project seems to be stuck at 347/1500 for some reason. =/ Guess I'll leave it on overnight to see how it goes. Hope it becomes unstuck. Dx

Lady-Loki 01-23-2008 11:47 PM

We are doing well little folding sheeps:

Team Stats

Blaaaaaaaah 01-23-2008 11:54 PM

It's been almost 12 hours and my folding proceeded to 420. God it's slow. D: Maybe it's because I'm uploading.

Hessah 01-24-2008 12:07 AM

-fold fold fold fold fold-

How someone explained it to me was... (i hope this is correct, but it made sense to me)

Is that Folding@Home uses your computer's idle resources (extra left over RAM and stuff) to do calculations, and when it's finished, they send the results back to their server thingy.. whereever that is...

booyah8876 01-28-2008 05:37 AM

Serious question...

I put in my team as 90021 and it matches all the info right... too bad my WUs aren't going towards our count =/

and my name's not on the list... >.>;;

Any help please :D

EDIT: WAIT WAIT.. I'M TOTALLY THERE NOW =D

Hessah 01-28-2008 06:40 AM

Wow... new WU takes 45-47 mins for 1% when I'm not doing ANYTHING...

due date: May 10.

LMAO.

Pritcher 02-06-2008 02:16 AM

Lol, I find it works best when I pay as little attention to it as possible. I rarely even check it anymore.

Hessah 02-06-2008 02:18 AM

i 4get that mine is on now.. HAHA

Lady-Loki 02-06-2008 03:00 AM

I check every 10 days or so. they fold, they register and more start folding and it just keeps going without my minding it's business for it.

booyah8876 02-06-2008 03:56 AM

Too bad my only computer is my laptop... so I can't always have it running like you guys... I tried to get my mum to use her comp all the time for it... but to no avail =/

Only using my laptop is also another reason I only have 4 WUs done =/

Since the minimum age for this forum is 13, I would say yes.

Since when is there a minimum age for this forum? I didn't see that in any of the rules and there's no age questioning when you register as far as I can recall. It's probably not entirely recommended since sometimes topics and language get a little bit adult, but I didn't think there was an actual rule. I've always censored myself a bit around here on the assumption that there were chilluns around.

Anyway @ PAstEl - I'll only say this requires you to download and run a small program and you should never do that unless you fully understand what exactly the thing is and what it does. If you really would like to be involved then it would be best if you got your mother and/or father to look into it for you first and let them make the call. :)

If you are under the age of 13, the administrator may require that a parent or guardian provides consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process.
Pulled from the FAQ section. It is recommended, although not fully enforced.

PAstEl 02-19-2008 10:56 AM

now i see

i can handle adult
topics well i guess,
i know not say
"those" things
and maybe i'll ask my brother 'bout it.
thankies anyway

Pritcher 03-21-2008 06:07 PM

 I just noticed that Hessah has surpassed me at last! Oh noes....

Prolly cuz I took it off the second computer and I started shutting down my computer when I leave. I used to just leave it on all the time.. oh well.

*folds with renewed vigor*

A_Forever 03-22-2008 01:04 AM

Lol, a whole lot of nonsensical spamming would be my guess. :p 30 pages worth in a night eh? Wow. That's probably more spam in a night then I've done since I've been here. I'm not too big on the spammage even in MoS.

A_Forever 03-22-2008 01:30 AM

We like to call it small talk :x

booyah8876 03-22-2008 07:02 AM

I've been running this forever...

and whenver I can... I calculate the time it takes to do one step.

This work unit is over 1hr per step

2 WU's ago..

was almost 2h a step...

OMG

I better be getting some über points.

Vasu 05-04-2008 04:35 AM

Ok, I've just joined up, and I put in the FF team code, but my name doesn't show up on the list? Do I have to finish atleast one WU first?

Ivramire 05-04-2008 04:36 AM
