My mother has once again failed to see me trying to show improvement, and after years of trying, I just can't see the point of trying anymore.

Anyone lvl 55+ wanna come grind with me? Oo.

I come from a family who is based on "success", and their idea of you being successful isn't you being happy or being successful in what YOU Want - its you being successful the way THEY want.

So, speaking from experience - Just be yourself. You shouldn't have to prove yourself all the time - to your parents most of all. So stop trying to improve, unless its something you want to improve upon just for yourself. Otherwise, its not worth it.

I don't live in this situation.

My mother calls it a "Give to get" relationship. I give chores, and responsibility, and I, in turn, get other things that benefit me. (Extras outside living essentials.)

The only problem is that I don't show 100% of the time that I'm competent to live alone, and that I have that responsibility, so therefore, I'm not allowed to do things.

She would also like to add that I'm not allowed my liscence until I'm 18, nor am I allowed to take rides in cars with friends, or go anywhere without adult supervision until I'm 18 "... as long as you're still in my wallet."

So yes...

This is why I dump tons of my life into this MMO, and this site.

My mother refuses to let me have a life outside of school and work, therefore, I use what resources I have (the internet) to make whatever kind of "life" I can.

This is what kills me the most.

Hmm... I'm pretty much in the same situation, except it's not as harsh as yours, but I can tell you that your only options are "Fight or flight": Confront your mom, or move out. If you want, you also try to contact a lawyer firm and get emancipated, but it's all in your hands.
