Here are some (not ALL) the things that were wrong with this episode:
  • Rava/Vatu - this was obviously drawing upon the idea behind yin and yang but it was just so badly done. The whole concept of yin and yang is that you can't have one without the other but. When Vatu came into the picture, the story line just became so cliche and generic. It just became another save-the-world-from-the-big-bad-monster story line. And there's no place to go from here. The writers have basically backed themselves into a corner. How are they going to come up with a story line where the consequences are more severe than the incarnation of all darkness? On some level, they have to bring back Vatu, just like they brought back Rava. They have to otherwise they lose the yin/yang concept I talked about above. But where does Vatu fit without season 3 becoming a rehash of season 2.
  • Complexity of characters - the thing that was so good about Last Airbender was that all the characters were so complex, even all the side characters. Zuko, Iroh, Sokka - all of them had really interesting back stories and you cared about what happened to them. If you compare the TLA cast with the LOK cast (Mako, Bolin, Asami), the cast in LOK is just flat. Bolin was actually MORE interesting in Season 1 than Season 2. In Season 2, his movie star story line just didn't go anywhere. The most interesting character BY FAR in LOK is Tenzin, and he really only got his story expanded in the second half of the season.
  • The last fight - the fight with the two big spirits just wasn't anything that should have been in Avatar. It looked more like something that belonged in Pacific Rim or Power Rangers. And really, there should have been no reason why Korra even won that fight.
  • Jamora - runs away to go do something offscreen that we never see. Comes back with... ??? and somehow manages to find Rava?? Seriously wtf.
  • Mako/Asami/Korra loveline - this entire loveline was just terrible. I can't believe the writers actually think we want to watch Mako go back and forth between Asami and Korra (Asami all the way, btw). And then the writers start the plot point that Mako should confess to Korra about him and Asami and then they never wrap it up.
  • Korra - she's just annoying.

I saw someone that looks like Soka and Azula!! And someone is using Katara's water arm trick. Looks so cool!!

looks pretty...

but where do they even go from last season? I mean, she basically beat Evil Incarnate. It's not like you can raise the stakes from there...

Hmm... They'll give her a new love interest!

Ralath 06-12-2014 09:52 PM

Omg. One of the worst parts of Legend of Korra is the relationship between Korra and Mako.

Lirange 06-12-2014 10:36 PM

Yeah. Why cant korra be an independent woman!!
