Not that my parents had ever been hard and said gaming is useless.. (in fact my dad games himself LOL)

But I thought it's kinda interesting that from two different source, both talked about how gaming isn't a bad thing..

I should send it to my friends, who nags their husbands LOL

lol, I was playing LoL the other day and went down for a lunch break... was watching TVB commericals and one was of a documentary about gaming (assuming about how gaming is bad) and they used LoL as an example...

LoL is the new Dota!?

Blaaaaaaaah 03-10-2014 04:04 AM

hahaa no idea, maybe it's just more popular in HK. some HK person actually go into the TW team to become competitive....

But then again I don't know if the same applied to starcraft or dota or whatnot in HK.

One of HK dudes who played for a Taiwanese team ended up winning the season 2 championships. He got a lot of hate from Taiwanese people and he retired a few months ago because the hate directed towards him was so bad that he could barely sleep anymore. Also, he developed carpal tunnel syndrome

People like that isn't helping our case that gaming can be a good thing... keke

gaming is the same as any other occupation.. you will always get injuries relating on your occupation (be it sport or office or labour related) unless you live like a healthy person where you exercise / stretch often etc which isn't a given anymore.

I'm hoping it's just that this whole competitive gaming thing is still in the early stages so the things people are doing aren't very 'forward-thinking' yet... when I read interviews about how they 'train' like 16 hours a day or whatever, that's unhealthy for any activity you are doing. Hopefully people will realise and start coming up with normal 'training' routines.

A lot of the better profession Korean LoL teams have life coaches and stuff who encourage them to do some physical activity as well. Some of them are taken to do kick boxing or taekwondo. They also have people to cook healthier meals for them everyday.

They can afford all this because the big teams are sponsored by the biggest companies - it would be like Telstra or Optus sponsorships for us

WOWOW I didn't know people can play professional gaming and be paid to game and get fed....
