that's what he honestly believes though, that's the thing. As he sees it, those other religions/schools of thought are erroneous, so why not warn your children to guard against them?

i am christian and i find most people like this guy dont know what they are talking about, but i think it is imperative that kids are taught what their parents believe even if it is against the school teaching. It is always better to have an informed opinion on both sides and not just one. I say the same that everybody should be taught about evolution if they go to a christian school. evolution and creation, secular and christian are a huge part of the culture (of my country any way) and should be taught. It doesnt matter what you teach somebody as a kid really, they will make up their own mind (especially with both sides of the story) in and through adelecence.

edit: there is an age / maturity level they should be exposed to this kind of thing and the parents as always underestimates how mature their child is. if it was a 5 year old i wouldnt want them listening to evolution because its a hard concept to understand, you cant understand two sides of an argument at that age, not because i want them to be brainwashed.

If a child is incapable of such higher reasoning skills you have to make the choice for them, its called parenting.

In my eyes we are not even "commanded" to do that. the bible says go out into all the land and be my wittnesses. it does not refer to missionary projects or actively seeking converts. he is talking about when we fill up the globe, live your life as an example to others. But this doesnt encompass the child parent relationship, and that is something hard to comment on.
