buy a net from the hunter or other pet guy, forget which one. go fight something that has a bag next to its name. when the bag starts flashing use the net.

also, if you go by the pet traders people in pokari city, there's a npc that sells pet skill scrolls
so maybe any pet will work and you just have to have it learn a healing spell

you have to be lv30 to meld pets
melded pets have 3 variations
1st melding - inherit target pet's appearance
2nd melding - 50% chance to inherit target or source pets' appearance
3rd melding - appearance mutation
not sure what appearance mutation specifies but I'm thinking maybe like a blue monkey or something (monkey + gorilla)
