Not exactly, it's just that people encourage the parents to have their children develop a "reading habit". Then the parents decide to buy them a book. Why not HP? It's entertaining, good for children and made for children, so they buy it and give it to their kids. Everything's fine to this point. Then the kids read it, get captivated, read the series, and then stop reading. HP is all they ever read, and think it's the best book, and now that they've actually read something, that's about enough for them. And then the parents start their praises. "My son/daughter read the full HP series, you know?" "He's got a very healthy reading habit, he ctually read the entire HP series!"

HP has become virtually the only children's book, and the only one that's ever read, and it's considered the best piece of literature ever.

And A4, yeah I meant series. And no, it was far from brilliant.

I absolutely loved it and it will FOREVER be in my favorites category.

Hessah 03-13-2009 04:09 AM

At least they read something....

read something's better than nothing?

Vasu 03-13-2009 04:11 AM

Yeah, but reading ONLY that and boasting about a healthy reading habit is kinda sick.

Hess is right... >__>

Come to America and talk to the kids I know.

Me: -reading-
Them: Ugh. Why are you reading? Books are lame.
Me: Good for me. Entertaining.
Them: I never read.
Me: I can tell.
Them: What do you mean?
Me: Your vocabulary sucks ass compared to mine and you're a senior while I'm a freshman. -walks away while still reading-

Hessah 03-13-2009 04:13 AM

I guess it makes it unfair for those that read the HP AND other books LOL!!!
