Ouch! Read all that and now I have a headache.
I get this on my old computer when i have a vendor set up. Most of the time it takes her being set for long long times and when it happens I just reboot. When my vendor is set up I have disabled all programs except my Folding @ Home (yep - see the link in my siggy for more on that) and anti-virus. The only time it has happened on a vendor set for a short duration has been when the scheduled anti-virus scan runs.
And, like I said, it is an older PC, and the poor thing has been through one virus crash (thanks to my granddaughter downloading anything that flashes or moves) and had to be reformatted. Since then it has never been quite "right".
Like others in this thread, I just re-boot and go again!
