But I stayed with a friend and they had this pho... stall(?) outside their home and that was amazing. We only went once. T_T

If I had to choose, I would actually choose Thailand over Vietnam though. There weren't as many tourist-y things to do in Vietnam as there were in Thailand.

Say hi to my familyz.

This. I laughed at once a week ... you guys must really eat a huge diversity of meals. I can see getting sick of pho, but what is special about ramen? Don't think we have it in Canada. Seems like it's just another package of processed garbage though

Hessah 02-18-2013 12:12 AM

In Sydney we do have a huge variety of cuisines, we don't talk about "do we eat chicken, beef or fish today?" we ask "do you want chinese, japanese, thai or mexican tonight?"

Real Ramen are not the package stuff. They're noodles made by the chef, and they also prepare their own soup/broth with pork bones or chicken for hours...

I believe there are some shops (in Japan) where their broths are something that's been cooking for years.. everyday they use the soup for customers then add water and more pork bones and keep boiling to keep the flavours up...

As a result, every ramen is different from different shops.

Oh my bad. I looked it up that looks delicious!

So it differs from pho by the broth?

Hessah 02-18-2013 08:36 PM

Yeah the broth is different, pho broth are thinner in texture, more like very flavoursome water.. while the soup in Ramen are generally much thicker..

The noodles are different too, pho use rice noodles, where ramen use egg noodles..
