That is a lie, actually. No species of Opiliones has a venom gland. And, to be perfectly honest, they're not even spiders. Arachnids, yes, but not spiders.

Edit: Seems that there is a type of actual spider referred to as a daddy-long legs as well (pholcus phalangioides, or cellar spider). Their venom is relatively harmless, though.
